Oh God, DD age nearly 4 has got hold of my blister pack (almost finished) and has taken as far as I can see 3 of my progesterone only pill- how worried do I need to be???

OP posts:
Sirzy · 30/07/2022 15:51

I would go to a and e with the pack and let them decide

Pinkkahori · 30/07/2022 15:51

Get medical advice.

Ohthatsexciting · 30/07/2022 15:51

Good Lord

get off mumsnet now and ring 111 ffs

probably nothing but seriously - don’t waste time starting a thread. 111

Have you heard of 111?

Whyarewehardofthinking · 30/07/2022 15:52

Go to A&E.

UpToMyElbowsInDiapers · 30/07/2022 15:53

I’d call NHS Direct for advice. I suspect (based on no medical knowledge whatsoever) that 3 progesterone pills as a one off are fine, but worth knowing what to watch for in terms of concerning signs.

Flopisfatteningbingforchristmas · 30/07/2022 15:53

Don’t panic but ring 111.

Coffeaddict · 30/07/2022 15:55

Seek medical advise

But to pjt your mind at rest even children have low levels of progesterone in their system and it is highly unlikely to cause any serious adverse affects

LilacPoppy · 30/07/2022 16:07

Not all worried.

LilacPoppy · 30/07/2022 16:07

*not at all worried.

Skodacool · 30/07/2022 16:21

This might be reassuring

Most answers if you Google the question suggest no long term harm but a girl might have a small bleed.

Bpdqueen · 30/07/2022 16:22

Ring 111. I'm sure she will be fine but you need medical advice to be sure. Also when sorted you need to rethink how you store medication safely as could of been so much worse

CharlotteRose90 · 30/07/2022 16:40

Ring 111 or 999 god knows what the pill could do to him.

ZealAndArdour · 30/07/2022 16:44

Don’t go to A&E. Ring 111, they can check Toxbase while you’re on the line and will give you appropriate evidence based advice for the exact pill and the age/weight of your child.

Generally contraceptive pills are considered to have very low toxicity, but may induce some vaginal bleeding in young girls (due to the hormones), or gastrointestinal upset in people generally, if too much is taken.

lunar1 · 30/07/2022 16:47

I hope you have managed to get some advice.

Peonyperfection · 30/07/2022 16:52

111 will most likely have access to Toxbase (poison database) and the information leaflets for your medication. They should be able to help.

From memory of a previous job, I don't think it's anything to worry about, but contact them to check your specific medication.

LondonQueen · 30/07/2022 16:53

Hopefully you have sought medical advise for your DD, please please please store medication safely though, another medication could have been much worse.

TheEagles · 30/07/2022 17:04

Spoken to 111, rang them first before thread! waiting callback from nurse. They've said keep eye on her in meantime in case of vomiting. She's found them rooting around in my work bag which was in my office while I was cleaning the bathroom. She's bouncing around happy as anything as usual. I'm so stressed out.

It sounds like she should be fine, you've had a lucky escape.
