Who do I need to install an electric shower?

A plumber or an electrician? Both? I’m completely clueless, have never had a shower only a bath. Would like to buy an electric shower to be installed over the bath. What else do I need to consider? Do I need to buy anything other than the actual shower, shower curtain/screen? Very grateful for any advice!

When i had mine done it was both. Electrician to do the wires and fit a new circuit breaker on the fuse box. Then plumber to do the pipes for the water feed.

Is your bath fully tiled around it?

Thank you @Danikm151
@Dontfuckingsaycheese the tiles currently only go halfway up the wall, will I need to tile it all the way up do you think?

My electrician installed a fan in the floor of the loft above the bathroom at the same time as replacing the electric sh ower. Just mentioning this in case your bathroom needs a fan in the ceiling. The shower I bought from Screwfix and the fan from Argos.

Hope this helps.

@MummyInTheNecropolis I’d say yes. I didn’t and it made the emulsion lift. I solved that by fitting a second shower curtain on the wall side with a tension rod - not a brilliant look but I was renting.

An alternative to an electric shower is replacing your bath taps with a shower/tap mixer then you just need a riser pole. Works well if you have a combi boiler from my experience. Or hot water tank but maybe you’re trying to avoid heating that all the time if you have one.

I did consider that @Dontfuckingsaycheese but I seem to have really low water pressure - it takes ages to run a bath! So not sure if that would affect the shower.

Done this twice, plumber did ours.

Definitely tile, or try showerwall there are some great products.
