Posted in the TV section and no responses... Anyone else watching?
My lovely ds2 was a Baton carrier three weeks ago which was very emotional!
I recorded him carrying it and all you could hear other than him yelling hello was me sobbing and sniffling!!

I'm getting very emotional watching the Baton carrying.. Ds2 was so excited when he carried it...

Lovely photo of your son - you must have been very proud Smile

I didn't realise the letter was in the baton until Charles read it out!

Thats lovely. We got to see our friend walking in with the England team which must have been an amazing feeling for him.

Sunnysal · 28/07/2022 23:48

I love all the helpers and athletes but there was far too much, expensive show bis crap. It's a sports event after all.

tapdancingmum · 28/07/2022 23:55

@Elderflower14 how amazing for him, I will watch it again to see him. It was amazingly bonkers but so enjoyable.

My friend's daughter got the call of Tuesday night about midnight to be on the bus at 8.30 Wednesday morning as she is representing Wales in Hockey and was at the opening ceremony. Neither of us saw her but her brother did. She's not mine but I feel so incredibly proud of her.

We are off to the gymnastics on Saturday and can't wait.

I really enjoyed it, loved the bull! I’m in Glasgow and just loved when we hosted in 2014. The city was buzzing and even the weather behaved! Hope all you Brummies have a lovely time. My nieces have tickets for some of the athletics events and are very excited!

IdisagreeMrHochhauser · 29/07/2022 00:04

I didn't really get it. My grandad was from Birmingham. My mum said she didn't think he would've got it either. The cars at the beginning were good and I liked the bull.

He didn't carry it last night. It was three weeks ago in Kent....

Why is the criminally unfunny Lenny Henry involved?

BMW6 · 29/07/2022 06:55

I loved the bull and steam punk section, thought Camilla's outfit was stunning!

Hated the main theme of the star fragments though, cringingly mawkish IMO.

AiryFairy1 · 29/07/2022 06:56

What a lovely moment for your DS @Elderflower14 🥰
I watched the last 45 mins and was very confused by a lot (were there dancers in water??), but I loved seeing how happy and excited all the athletes were to be there.
DH and I thought Duran Duran would magically appear out of the Bull - like maybe it would spew or poop them out😅

MrsLargeEmbodied · 29/07/2022 07:09

as lenny henry said, must have had the wrong mushrooms for breakfast!
did enjoy it - trippy indeed.
great procession of the athletes

MrsLargeEmbodied · 29/07/2022 07:10

we thought duran duran were also in The Bull

MrsLargeEmbodied · 29/07/2022 07:11

wow @Elderflower14
how wonderful

He really is, isn't he? I've never found anything he's said funny.

emmathedilemma · 29/07/2022 09:49

Just finished watching it this morning as I was on catch up last night and it was getting late. It was definitely better under the influence of wine last night! Looking forward to lots of sport watching though.

balalake · 29/07/2022 11:06

I watched bits of it. I'd be happy with the athletes parade and a simple 'I declare the games open', as for the Commonwealth Games it seems as much about the small territories and nations as anything. Mark Cavendish being proud to represent the Isle of Man, for example.
