So he's a typical teenager but not into football and the like. Not at all bothered about his appearance though and simply lives in t shirts and Adidas track pants. ALL THE TIME.
He's got a pair of jeans which he very reluctantly wears when forced to be smarter. I get that he's not keen on jeans - he's very skinny and lanky and says they're uncomfortable. We went into sports direct today but couldn't find anything that fitted that he was prepared to consider. Even his favourite style of track pants didn't fit.
I know there's a teenage board but thought I might get more suggestions here.
Please send me ideas of things I can suggest that he might wear Wink

Just let him wear what he likes?

knackeredagain · 28/07/2022 17:58

What do his mates wear? Not that he should follow the crowd, but I bet they wear trackies too.

My DS has sensory issues with trousers so I buy denim joggers for his ‘smart’ look. They are softer than normal jeans.

Bunce1 · 28/07/2022 18:00

My DS hates anything “flapping” around his legs as he too is slim!

He likes H and M slim cargo trousers, Nike slim joggers, massimo dutti or dickies chinos

Tops-
Santa Cruz graphic skate t shirts, north face t shirts (small logo only) Uniqlo plain t shirts.

stance socks.

thats it on haven’t rotation. He is very particular about footwear and we have to remortgage the house for the right dunks or Jordan’s 🙄

I can't find anything to fit him!

I would leave him be. Make sure he has one pair of smart-ish trousers and a shirt to endure on occasion. Mine were the same until about 17 when all of a sudden they started caring, going to the gym and buying new clothes. Before that they just lived in Tesco joggers and slogan T-shirts for years!

NCTDN · 28/07/2022 18:03

I'll look out for H&M slim cargo trousers.

Uniqlo is a Japanese brand and not too expensive so that might be a good place to start?

MintJulia · 28/07/2022 18:07

I have a super-skinny 13yo. I've found clothes that fit him at some of the less expensive country/equestrian web sites. That might be worth a try.

PeekAtYou · 28/07/2022 18:08

My ds wears cargos or joggers and looks fine imo. He won't go in a normal shop with me so I buy online (and return a lot of it because he won't go in an actual shop) His clothes are pretty much all from JD Sports, Primark, H&M and Boohoo. He needs trousers atm and my record online purchase had 10 pairs of different trousers that all had to be returned because he didn't like them.

Discovereads · 28/07/2022 18:15

Sports direct sucks on all levels.
Just let him wear what he likes.
He can shop online or in person.

PeekAtYou · 28/07/2022 18:17

By cargo I mean this kind of thing
www.boohooman.com/slim-fit-utility-pocket-cargo-jogger-trouser/BMM09065.html
He has a pair of H&M slim fit cargos but they've been out of stock for ages 😡

OopsTooLate · 28/07/2022 18:26

My 15 year old DS is exactly the same, I've just bought him a load of xxs men's clothing from Uniqlo. They fit really well and he likes them as they're comfy, even the joggers look smarter than his usual ones, I'll find a link!

Demilei · 28/07/2022 18:33

How come you can't find anything to fit him? Are you buying men's or children's sizes? My 14 year old is medium men's size but prefers baggy so I buy him large. He only wears sports wear and I'm happy for him to wear what he likes.

OopsTooLate · 28/07/2022 18:47

For relaxing around the house, more casual he has these joggers in xs www.uniqlo.com/uk/en/product/ultra-stretch-dry-joggers-448134.html

He wears with these t-shirts: www.uniqlo.com/uk/en/product/uniqlo-u-airism-cotton-oversized-crew-neck-t-shirt-444999.html

For a smarter but still comfortable look he has these: www.uniqlo.com/uk/en/product/ultra-stretch-skinny-fit-jeans-444589.html

This shirt, it's actually more of a t-shirt fabric, so very comfy www.uniqlo.com/uk/en/product/airism-button-through-polo-shirt-447816.html

And this knitted polo: www.uniqlo.com/uk/en/product/100pct-extra-fine-merino-knitted-polo-shirt-450539.html

OopsTooLate · 28/07/2022 19:00

Ds in Uniqlo joggers, knitted polo and jacket, not smart, but definitely an improvement on his baggy joggers.

Mine is 6ft tall with a 26” waist, I buy him medium mens joggers, as small are too short; but theres drawstrings to pull waist in?

school trousers are 35” length from M&S

He also doesn’t care what he wears but as long as he’s comfortable it’s fine.
