The Joy of doing nothing in the school holidays

DD is 5 yo DS 3 months. The weather is awful here. We have watched the animated versions of Mulan, Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast, back to back. DS is full and asleep in his sling. DD has requested cheese on toast for lunch, which I will have too. Then I will sit and read my book whilst she does some colouring and drawing next to me. I am right in thinking that I am having the best 'lazy non enriching' school holiday day ever?'

This sounds lovely. I have heaped on the pressure to be out and busy a lot already this year but this thread shows that you don't always need to be on the go. Kids need and deserve lazy days occasionally. I think lots of parents want to show off their big family days and prove what enriching families they are. If there were no social media maybe we'd all be a bit lazier Grin

These are some of my favourite days and still are now that I’m an adult!

It does sound lovely.

With 6 weeks to fill and not much disposable cash, we are having lots of days like this.

There seems to be a pressure to always be doing something, booking this or that holiday club.

Like most parents I am not an all singing all dancing children's entertainer! It's important that they experience boredom and find a way out of it - although I appreciate that this is not possible with younger kids.

Sounds lovely reminds me of this Christmas when DD (15) had covid and DD (12) had an ear infection and Christmas had been cancelled.
While DD 1 was asleep we watched Encanto then when she woke up and DD 2 had gone for a lie down she wanted to watch it so I got to sloth about watching Encanto all day eating treats!
Nothing wrong with slow days.

I have DS (13) and DS (17) who has only just woken up about 1pm...we're all still in PJs and about to make some kind of lunch / brunch..
