Shops providing hand sanitizer?

Just a debate with a friend. If you are vulnerable and still very stressed about covid , would/do you carry your own sanitiser with you ? Would you be furious if there wasn't any provided at a shop given that there are no longer restrictions in place ? Should people take take ownership of their own health? What's your thoughts?

It's nice if shops offer it but it's on you to carry your own if you're bothered about it. I keep a bottle of antiviral foam in the car but otherwise don't use it. I just wash my hands regularly and have never had covid.

That's my thought too. I appreciate your replying.

Its not spread that way as its an airborne virus. If you want to do the pantomime of sanitising hands then take your own.

I carried sanitiser before Covid and contiue to do so. I hate the ones you get given. Either they absolutely stink of alcohol or are sticky and take ages to dry. I don't expect them to be provided.

I'm not vulnerable, but carried hand sanitiser before covid, during and now. There is a lovely, family run bakery nearby, BUT, they only accept cash and during the entire covid years, they provided absolutely no sanitiser for patrons! Despite handing over notes/coins between people every few minutes.

I assume if there is no legal requirement for a shop to provide it, then its clearly an added expense for them. I would expect people who are at more risk, to help protect their own health by taking basic precautions. FIL is immuno suppressed and avoids places that might be crowded, carries his own sanitiser and wears a mask. He doesn't expect the rest of the country to know to avoid him/not get too close etc.

shops did enough

bring your own sanitiser!!

mallowchick · 27/07/2022 23:02

I heard can elderly lady shouting at an assistant today because the canister was empty and she was vulnerable. I felt sorry for her but you can't put your own safety into somebody else's hands.

I dislike seeing hand sanitizer in shops. We need to live with Covid and not live in fear of it.

Covid isn't the only show in town. RSV is no joke, and spreads via hand contact as well as sneezes, etc. Not yet the season in the UK.

I hope the shop assistant put her back in her place!!

Gr33ngr33ngr4ss · 27/07/2022 23:08

If I were vulnerable, I can't imagine I'd leave my sanitising fate in someone else's hands in order to make a point.

Surely you prioritise your own health?

mallowchick · 27/07/2022 23:08

The shop assistant was really embarrassed about it as the woman kept shouting at her. I was like seriously, you're that stressed about it but your unable to throw a bottle in your bag?

some people just enjoyed covid too much and want the drama of it all to remain

its over
