DD is 1 in a couple of weeks and I'm not sure what to get her.

What did everyone else get for their LOs birthdays?

She seems to really like toys with buttons she can push especially the ones that make sounds but there is so much out there I dont know what is good and what will be a waste of money!

Would love some ideas thrown at me 😀😀

Toy kitchen? Little ones love leaning up against it and opening and closing the oven and other doors, banging the pans about, it a great toy because when they get older they can play properly with it.

water and sand tables are also a great toy, last for years.

Little tikes car and it’s all enclosed with a foot ledge so toddlers can sit in it - that will be played with daily - all my 4 loved “their cars” and used to wash them so much in the summer 🤣🤣🤣

Mine loved a little push-along flat trolley that had wooden blocks in it.

Books. All the Julia Donaldson ones come as board books. Also anything with flaps.

Toy kitchen, sand pit, water table, ride on toy - all great ideas that you are likely to get years of play out of.

Also Duplo!

Boring I know, but I would look into setting up a pension for them or Premium Bonds, if that is more manageable. This will be much more useful to them in the long run and it will stop you being overrun with stuff from relatives. Our two have have one and both sets of GPs put 'birthday money' in (not massive amounts) and we save the CB to go in. Then you can just buy token gifts like books and small toys.

My daughter is getting puzzles (lift out ones with big handles), clothes, hammer bench, a shape sorter, pull along train and some skittles so far.

Thanks everyone.

I am very keen on the toy kitchen as she loves opening doors and climbing at the moment and it would hopefully last her a while!! But they all seem to say 3+ on them, can anyone recommend one for younger kids? Thanks

So many toys say 3+ on them and it's often nonsense. I remember I couldn't find wax crayons for my kids that didn't say 3+ on the box, even the big chunky ones that are non toxic and obviously designed to be starter crayons.

I can't see any reason that any toy kitchen wouldn't be fine for a younger toddler. We have the one from IKEA, together with their toy food, pots, pans and utensils.

I second the IKEA kitchen, it’s height adjustable too think it’s the DUKTIG one. You will need to buy the pots and pans and food separately though.
