PIP form for Autism (Aspergers syndrome)

Can somebody help me? I'm trying to fill in the PIP form for my 16 year old son who has aspergers syndrome. I don't know what to use as evidence or who to put down as a health professional. The school senco said I couldn't put down her when I asked, the GP hasn't seen him since he was about 10 and the paediatrician who diagnosed him hasn't seen him since his diagnosis aged 9. I haven't got any paperwork since his diagnosis letter and he is currently on a long term DLA award that he's had since 2015.

Do you have a local support service? Like a community association that offers services such as benefit checks and form completion? The staff at my local association are skilled in completing these forms, worth finding out about.

Senco and community asd nurse did mine. I warn you, if they are not needing to be seen regularly (my dd was in weekly support from camhs at 16) he may not qualify. Criteria is different to dla. We had to fight to get pip despite emergency psych etc

Whoever is the best person to confirm that he has difficulties with the activities that PIP look at like cooking a simple meal, washing and dressing, communication, budgeting etc

Thankyou. He gets support at school but it's all informal so I don't think there is any written evidence anywhere. The senco would be the person who would be able to confirm his difficulties but she said no when I asked if I could include her details on the form.

have you had a good look at the PIP descriptors/ form. Do you think he definitely qualifies? The criteria are quite different to DLA which is a lot easier to be awarded.

I'm looking at the form now. TBH I'm not really expecting him to qualify as although he needs a lot of extra help, the help he needs is only covered in a few of the questions. And it's mostly DH and I who help him develop strategies and everything else he needs. He always hated being questioned by well meaning professionals and he particularly hated it when they came to our house as he thought they should stay in the dr surgery/hospital where they belonged. So over time we politely declined the help from the autism support worker and the disability social worker. We read everything we could find about autism and tried our best to make sure he had access to his coping strategies at all times.

Lots of organisations have advice on their websites. Such as cab, autistic society disability rights. Good luck
