Seasonal vegetables

Lighthearted.
It’s July in the south of England. The menu lists a side dish of “seasonal vegetables”. Just for fun, what vegetables would you expect to be served?

Green beans carrots and broccoli. Maybe peas.

Courgettes, green beans, new potatoes, peas, spinach

Something like this. Maybe with some tomatoes thrown in too?

I was thinking along the same lines as you guys, so I was surprised to be served:
broccoli
cauliflower
mashed swede
some kind of purple mush which may or may not have been red cabbage

Whatever was reduced to clear in tesco's when they went out to replace the birdseye frozen.

DP is a farmer - it’s early for UK red cabbage or swede, maybe that came from their freezers!

So summery 😂

If they were going to serve winter veg, the least they could have done was to include some roast parsnips!

Slightly off topic, but Tesco by me still has sprouts for sale, which I don't remember seeing this late before.

I actually love sprouts, but surely they're a seasonal winter vegetable?
