What happens at an outpatient review?

First time posting and I am looking for some information please.
I have had two 'flare ups' now totalling in 8 weeks off work in 6 months and I can't take anymore paid time off but I'm ill again. I have an outpatient review next week with the colorectal unit at the hospital. The letter says this is because of boderline calprotectin results. Does anyone have any experience as to how this will go?

Sorry if TMI, My symptoms are fatigue, severe abdominal pain, cramps and frequent toilet troubles of varying nature and sometimes blood. I have had lots of scans and they are looking at IBD as the cause but I've had no diagnosis.

You need to go prepared with a list of symptoms and ask them what is the next move/set of tests. I would expect you will be weighed and maybe a blood test but mostly it will be a discussion with a doctor.

I would expect a referral for a colonoscopy and probably under 2 week wait.

Love the username @Flopisfatteningbingforchristmas
Thank you 😊 that is helpful to know and a bit worrying about the colonoscopy but if it is going to help to find a solution to make me better. I will do anything to feel normal.

My DH has crohns and has been very lucky with it. Diagnosis 10 years ago, given an course of steroids, one medication which didn’t agree with him, then swapped to another (in retrospect he had the side effect of mild fatigue but we also had 2 kids during that period) and now is in remission and is no-longer medicated. He said after his first colonoscopy his symptoms eased a bit.

That's great news thank you!

I hope I can get mine (whatever it is) in to remission too.
