Trying on high street wedding dresses

Hello everyone
I am due to get married next year and will probably just buy a high street wedding dress.
However is there shops where I can go in and try them on or do i just need to order online?
I have a bit of a tricky figure so i think i might struggle to find something to fit so don't want to be buying loads to try and to keep having to send them back.
Many thanks for your help

I bought off the peg in Monsoon in 2010. They are not as weddingy as some though, but ours was a very low-key wedding.

Thank you. Yeah mine is going to be quite low key too, I have been looking online but like i said i think I would prefer to go and try a few on really.

I know the Birmingham New Street Monsoon has a wedding section at the back of the store with lots of different dress types (about 20?).

Might be worth finding out where the closest one is to you?

Liverpool would be my closest and according to the website they do have a bridal section there so ill take a trip up there i think!
There is a seamstress who lives behind me so i guess i can get her to make alterations if i need it.
Thank you both

Congratulations on your engagement, and forthcoming wedding! 🥂💍 I tried on a couple in Monsoon but neither was quite right. However, on the recommendation of a friend, I spent a pleasant two or three hours trying on dresses in Wed2B - the last dress I tried turned out to be 'The One'!

May not be quite what you're looking for but Oxfam has a bridal boutique at Heswall where you could make an appointment and try one some different styles. www.oxfam.org.uk/shops/oxfam-shop-heswall/

PS I forgot to mention that ASOS, Karen Millen, Reiss and Phase Eight are all worth visiting. Good luck!

Great thanks! Just looked and there is one in Liverpool too!

There are bridal shops where you can go in and try dresses on. You usually have to book an appointment. We have one local to me and I know, despite the loss of lots of high street stores, there are still quite a few around.

I think Monsoon in the Trafford Centre stocks wedding dresses too

I ordered mine from needle and thread - they seem true to size and most are loose fitting styles

Make sure you’ve got the right underwear on, as obvious as that sounds - I got a Spanx shapewear all in one which could be worn under pretty much anything as it had interchangeable straps and was low at the front and the back

Would also recommend Wed2B but it might be more than you want to spend - starts at £399 which although on looking, if not much different from Monsoon bridal.

Have a look at Needle and Thread - www.needleandthread.com/collections/bridal-dresses?gclid=Cj0KCQjwof6WBhD4ARIsAOi65ajRvhe6Guevsg1g-m-k5mrH_DC4-t4jlpGtQcpLGn2djrVfHjlklfcaAnuNEALw_wcB

And even on Etsy - you might find someone who can make something bespoke to fit.

Obviously, you MUST let us know how this goes and let us have a peek at the final choice pretty please?

Yes i will do! @WomensLandArmy
