Can someone explain 'Interested' on a Facebook sales post

I am a bit confused and curious as to why people comment on a facebook selling post with the word 'interested' and nothing else.

Maybe I am missing something, but surely someone wants to buy it or they don't? If they don't want to commit to buy, there is a 'bookmark post' option on facebook posts they can watch it.

I am never sure what to do as a seller if someone comments with interested, and then another commenter asks outright to buy it. Does the 'interested' one need to be checked with because they expressed an interest first, or should I ignore the 'interested' comment and give it to second one because they said they definitely want to buy it?😐.

I find it confusing and also quite irritating.

I would go with the second and ignore the first. Or reply to the first & say, do you want it cos other people are interested. And if they haven’t replied in a few hours go with the second. No time for that nonsense.

@ClutterofStarlings thank you, yes that is what I'm thinking of doing. It is such a faff.
If someone doesn't want to commit to buy, I wish they would just quietly watch the post instead of confusing matters.

I think it's a default response if you click on the reply part, mine comes up with various set responses. So they could have clicked it by mistake. I think otherwise they'd have said, "I'd love this but need to check if it fits through my door, I will get back to you by 4pm" or whatever.

Most sales groups that I am in have their own rules. One of them is the first to state interested has first dibs and an hour to private message to agree terms. If there is no message it moves to the next on the list.

I’ve had so many people mess me around on marketplace. I have a look at their feedback and profile to check if they seem reliable before responding to them.

If they message saying they will pick up on X day rather than just comment “interested”, they are usually a lot more reliable!
