I’m still awake. Alarm due to go off in 2.5hrs. Sleep or don’t bother?

First day back to work tomorrow after a couple of weeks off. No idea why I’m still awake although have noticed I often sleep badly on Mondays (psychological??).

One of my cats is strolling round the house chirping. Then coming to sit on my head.

Is this peri-meno? My sleep has been sporadic since a bereavement a few years ago. I’m early 40s.

Alarm is set for 2.5hrs time (not in the UK) so wondering if I should now just stay awake as surely getting a couple of hours only will be horrific.

Feeling quite meh tbh. Not anxious or bothered or stressed about being awake. A bit indifferent really.

Sorry you're stuck awake, I have nights like that and it's a bit miserable. I'd try for sleep if you can - I always find a couple of hours to be better than nothing. Hope if you do decide to try and squeeze in a bit that you can, and good luck with work in the morning Flowers

I’d try to sleep too, definitely. Without any stress if it doesn’t happen, the trying will still give you a rest of some kind and do you good.
(can you not shut your door to avoid cat on your head? )

Read a book or do a headspace to calm/distract your mind. You will get to sleep.
(You have my sympathy - 0400 in the UK and am wide awake 😵‍💫)

Thank you for the messages I’ve opted for no sleep as couldn’t face that gritty eye feeling and adrenaline surge when the alarm goes off.

I’ve pulled all-nighters before so am sure I’ll be ok. Got a catch up with my boss at 5pm - may be feeling slightly more bedraggled by then though.

My boy cat is now zonked in between pillows. I think it was me being awake that was unsettling him. He’s the chatty one. My sweet girl cat always stays quietly at the foot of the bed bless her.

DH is snoring in the lounge after staying up watching TV. This makes the cats happy as 2 humans plus 2 cats is really a bit too much.

I did want to get up and do some exercise. Wondering if the late night / lack of sleep is actually a form of self-sabotage…. I guess no reason why I couldn’t do some yoga or something before I get ready for work still. Then I could just get to work nice and early.

The kids are in school hols so they can have a lovely lie in. Just hope I don’t wake them with the shower / hairdryer.
