Mine is cookbooks.
And when I looked up Mary Berry's plumb crumble recipe this evening I realised what a pleasure it is to cook looking at a cookbook instead of a screen!!

I also still bring 10 books on holiday to my DH frustration instead of a kindle

Kids playing with toys for longer. Now a huge majority want consoles and devices rather than toys for Christmas.

Being less contactable. Now we have smart phones in our pocket and people can contact you at any time.

Having to go from shop to shop to find something you want

Posting copies of photos of the dc to my Mum

Making an arrangement to meet someone somewhere and then having to show up and hope they remembered/not know if they were late or had forgotten

Using public phone boxes (dont miss the stench of old urine)

Travelers cheques and being fanatical about not loosing them

Having to go into the bank to do almost anything

I miss looking through encyclopedias,I would always learn something random and fun on the way to finding the info I wanted

Printed Yellow Pages were so good for pressing flowers

Sliding over the back seat of the car when we went round a corner and squashing the sister on the downhill side as we didnt have seatbelts let alone car seats

I’ll stop now 🤣…I’m showing my age!

Being on the other side of the world to friends and family and actually feeling like it was the other side of the world. I went traveling at 18 in 2001; there was no social media, going on the internet meant paying for half an hour's use in an internet café (or occasionally a ten minute free use per day in a hostel) and sending a few emails home. Occasionally I'd send airmail letters home or get them from friends back home, and I'd buy a prepaid international phone card every so often to call home (usually when I moved countries, to let my parents know where I was). No mobile with me - I left my pay as you go one at home as there was no point taking it abroad for a year, it would have cost a fortune. Relied on guidebooks and good luck, rarely booked anything in advance, would get on a coach or train or bus to the next place not knowing where I'd be sleeping that night but it always turned out alright.

It felt wonderfully free and independent and adventurous, and none of it was curated for Instagram or instantly broadcast back home for people to like. I feel sad that my kids won't have that opportunity.

Totally agree.
Travelled as a teenager in the mid 90s.

So not even email, just occasional postcard home when I remembered!

Going to restaurants not knowing what is on the menu. So many places have their menu's online now, I know I don't have to look in advance but I always do! I pretty much know what I am going to order before leaving home.
