Spanish kid entertainment

When you are abroad do you try to keep your kids up late to enjoy the holiday entertainment that starts from 9.15pm?

I have a 3 and 5 year old who would love all the Discos and games the entertainment staff run for all the kids. I could see (and hear) all the children have so much fun - but mine are so tired by 8 latest that everything after that becomes an emotional mess.

I think I am asking how people manage to keep their kids up late if the kids no longer nap and there is no way you can get them to nap.

I understand Spanish kids have a different sleeping routine and are used to being up late - but there were a large amount of English speaking children having a blast.

do you keep your young children up late enough for the holiday fun? There is no entertainment prior to 9 (some nights even 10) as this is when the Spanish families seem to have their meals together.

We make ours have a nap in the afternoon. They don’t have a nap at home but with the heat and late nights they will have one abroad. The mini disco at our hotel started at 8:30 so that was fine.

We're in Portugal just now and my 6 year old has had one nap the whole week despite being in the pool for 6/7 hours every day.
We start showering around 6 and out for dinner by 7.
Then a wee walk after dinner which leads us to the mini disco at 8.30.
Once disco is done we're literally heading back to bed.

Not once have we been there for all inclusive ending 🙈

Mine always stayed up on holidays, had a double buggy for if they wanted to sleep. Never did those sorts of Spanish resorts but we took them to plenty of French sites with evening entertainment, unless my parents were with us they stayed up until we wanted to go to bed. Mostly we did road trips and often found concerts etc for the evenings, 11pm wasn't an issue

Depends on your child.

If you have the version that wakes at 5am whatever time they went to bed, you just end up with an over tired child, so you skip the evening entertainment.

If you have the version that sleeps for 10 hrs straight, whatever time they go to bed, you shift their sleep patterns and go party.

They are still asleep now (hour ahead in Spain) so I’m going to see how long they sleep and then give the disco a go tonight!

my husband is less keen but everyone else seems to manage it so I think it is worth a try!

thank you everyone for your experiences
