COVID - how long did you feel poorly?

Just that really. I tested positive 2 days ago and am feeling rough - it could be worse. Just wondering how long people felt bad for?

First time was rough for a week or so, but off sick for two weeks, second week was extreme fatigue. Second time was off sick for a week, proportionately similar times being actively rough and then the fatigue. Different variants, two years apart.

simbobs · 22/07/2022 15:05

Tested positive for 10 days and still don't feel quite right yet. It has been 13 days now. My main lingering symptom is chest congestion. I still can't get a full lungful of air without effort.

A580Hojas · 22/07/2022 15:07

I was ill for about 6 weeks. Really couldn't go anywhere or do anything for 4 weeks.

I needed 4 weeks off work and didn't feel 100% until 6 weeks. Get well soon OP. Rest as much as you can, plenty of fluids, a good vitamin supplement.

AskforJanice · 22/07/2022 15:12

Felt very rough for 2/3 days and then had a cough/very tired for another couple of days. Was lucky and pretty much back to normal within a week

Bells3032 · 22/07/2022 15:12

First day felt OK just a bit sore. Second day felt awful with achy limbs and a blocked nose, day 3 like I had the start of a cold and days 4-7 like I had a blocked nose and my voice was a bit funny.

Now on day 10 and still feel tired but otherwise OK

JuneOsborne · 22/07/2022 15:12

I'm just coming up to 2 weeks and I'm starting to feel more normal. It's the energy that's taking time to return.

Sallycorriander · 22/07/2022 15:13

Only about 3 days and even then I could still manage to look after the kids and do basic housework. I was tired and had a terrible headache but that was it. I realise I'm very lucky though, I know people who've been wiped out for weeks by it.

x2boys · 22/07/2022 15:14

I tested positive two weeks ago I felt grim for about four days, whilst I still have a lingering cough I think I had it fairly mildly ,I havevhad three vaccines though .

WingBingo · 22/07/2022 15:14

Only 3 days poorly but 2 weeks later my sinus’ are still blocked and causing a lot of discomfort

ive sent DH out to source a nasal douching kit. Not something I thought I’d ever do.

Wavingnotdowning · 22/07/2022 15:15

So sorry to hear that you have all been so poorly. Just the same for me, with the breathing, simbobs, hoping your symptoms ease soon xx

For 6 weeks couldn’t really move from the sofa, improved but has taken me over 8 months to feel nearly normal. Was off work 12 weeks initially with long covid then had a big relapse which led to the 8 months off sick. Horrendous.

clipclop5 · 22/07/2022 15:22

3/4 days, but felt incredibly tired for 6 weeks afterwards

Namechanger355 · 22/07/2022 15:27

Am pregnant so was worried

had symptoms on Sunday suddenly (shivering, fever) and felt really rubbish on the Monday. tested positive on Tuesday. Started feeling better from the Tuesday onwards and very little symptoms from the Thursday other than fatigue until Sunday.

next Monday was fine again

Yorkshireswithallroasts · 22/07/2022 15:29

I was 41 weeks pregnant. Had a sore throat for about an afternoon but then was fine after that. My son had a temperature in the evening but was fine the next day. My husband had no symptoms at all.

KavvLar · 22/07/2022 15:31

It’s coming on for eleven months and I still have significant cognitive issues and fatigue / pain.

PancakesWithCheese · 22/07/2022 16:17

I’m also day 2 and feel bloody awful. Haven’t moved out of bed today. I haven’t felt as ill as I do now for years.

Gagagardener · 22/07/2022 18:01

Day 13. Can cope without afternoon nap now and sense of taste and smell have more or less recovered. Had two three days in bed ar beginning. Still lacking energy and coughing up vile phlegm. Brain fog. Lolling on sofa to type this.

MrsMariaReynolds · 22/07/2022 18:05

Am about 5 days in and just starting to feel slightly more human again, after 3 days of being bed-bound with nausea, headache, sore throat and congestion. Still needed a 2 hour nap this afternoon to keep going. I am NOT a napper.

Wavingnotdowning · 22/07/2022 20:57

Just really knocked out, and feeling bad about my poor doggy going without walks 😥

My husband is CEV, 5 categories of vulnerability, and felt out of sorts for a week or so. The long term issue he has been left with is low blood pressure: it’s a blessing, frankly. He was in two hypertension medications prior to infection and has been taken off of both.

Are you vaccinated? If so, the stats are very much in your favour.

Hope you get well soon.

igglepigglesredblanket · 22/07/2022 21:22

I had it at the same time as DH and our 2yo DD, we were both wiped out for about 3 days, day 5 after positive test was the worst but felt rough for about 2 weeks in total, DD had 1 bad day and that was it.

Wavingnotdowning · 23/07/2022 07:26

Yes, had three vaccinations. Drinking lots of water, sleeping and going through a lot of rubbish tv!

stressingmum · 23/07/2022 07:27

Rough for 2 days completely back to normal after 6 days - don't know if it was because it was my 2nd time having it.

Augend23 · 23/07/2022 07:31

It took me about 12 days before I got back to not needing to sleep in the day and I'm still struggling to go out for the evening or whatever without a nap.
