If I have a drink while I've got covid will I feel worse tomorrow?

Tested positive today for the first time.I feel achy and lethargic.

My logic has always been that your body can't deal with two things at once so it might get rid of these symptoms.

Im being ridiculous aren't I?

Anyone had covid very recently? How long does this shit last?

I still had a drink whilst I was positive

I did find that, although my taste and smell were not drastically affected, red wine did taste a bit weird. Not enough to totally stop me though

You will find a G&T very refreshing. It won't hurt.

I've got a bottle of cava with my name on it

DP drank through his 4 bouts of covid

Drinking was the only thing that got me through covid 1, during those halcyon days where you had to isolate for 14 days.

Covid 2 I was too unwell to even think about drinking.

i had covid nearly two weeks ago. I was much better after a few days but had no inclination to drink at all. Didn’t want to risk feeling any worse/ going backwards. Covid randomly flares back up
sometimes as you feel better.Just for a drink of alcohol.

Plus I needed pain relief with my aches and didn’t want to mix paracetamol/ibruprofen and alcohol tbh.

My partner had a couple of beers a couple of nights and was fine/no worse

maddy68 · 21/07/2022 18:54

If you are well enough to drink you'll be fine

MintyGreenDreams · 21/07/2022 19:03

It tastes like cheap cider not m&s cava but I'll force it down.i certainly can't feel any worse.

There's a difference between having a drink and going on a drunken binge. You can take paracetamol and ibuprofen and have a drink.

I never said you can’t. The op asked for opinions I gave my experience/opinion.

it was my circumstances: covid is a horrid little beast even mildly. I wanted the meds to work as best they could and wanted to feel better quickly.I was on paracetamol/ibuprofen regularly for a good few days and for ME I didn’t think mixing that and alcohol was the right thing. I’ve taken the odd paracetamol when drinking in the past for a headache etc but this was different.

Alcohol isn’t exactly great for us when well and i always feel it even when I’ve had one drink.Couldn’t think of anything worse than a drink at that point. Would of been a waste cos stuff tasted weird anyway.
