Thank you gift for consultant & nurses

Been in the care of a lovely consultant and nurses for my chronic illness. Moving cities which means might not get to see them again. Not sure what to get them. Looking for something thoughtful but not over the top.

They're about 5-6 in total.

Any ideas? TIA xx

I got our local greengrocer to make up a large fruit box. Cost about £20 and the staff were delighted

Literally anything! What a lovely thought. If you have time a wee card thanking them by name and saying what you appreciated about their care would be so welcome (and would help the nurses with their revalidation as you have to provide feedback as part of this). Most nurses keep all of these and they’re treasured.
Presents we have valued (community intensive team) have been a box of biscuits to share, tea/coffee to share, insulated travel mug.

i a it has to be something to share.
but also good to write them individual thank-you cards, in addition.

We bought a large box of teabags, large jar of coffee and a selection of nice biscuits for the teams that had cared for my wife. When she was working, she'd been a nurse and had always appreciated receiving these.

Nice little hamper selection of teas/coffees/biscuits and some healthier things too like some little bags of nuts/dried fruit?

I worked in a nursing home and one family sent all the care staff a massive hamper after their loved one passed away. Kept the kitchen going for weeks after and it was lovely to remember the person each time we made a nice mug of tea. The stuff that the home provided must have come from the sweepings off the tea factory floor it was that grim..........!

Great ideas, really like them!!

Add teaspoons into the hamper as we can rarely find one in the NHS! But tea, coffee, biscuits, chocolates always go down well.

Yes bundles and bundles of smart price teaspoons! Biscuits, don’t need to be fancy ones in a tin or anything as you don’t get much bang for your buck, but several packs of digestives/hob nobs/rich teas will last much longer as less moorish than thick chocolate covered ones. Some cordial is nice for those that don’t drink hot drinks, or just for anyone in the iIt weather!

And these pens are beloved by many in our department, such nice writers;

Hi OP, I’m a nurse. Every three years, we need to prove that we are good at our jobs and have to provide feedback from patients to be able to continue nursing. If you could write a letter naming the nurses and thanking them, that would be amazing.

Jujy · 21/07/2022 13:01

Individual thank you cards or even an email to the department thanking them by name will be hugely appreciated and be really helpful for them.

Food wise the fruit basket idea will be a big hit. Also donuts. Both only happen rarely and are LOVED haha.

scamander · 21/07/2022 13:20

Oh wow brilliant, I'm getting really excited about this. So grateful for the answers. Especially the letters, as didn't know about feedback forms.

I went the lateral thinking route!

For my Consultant and 5 nurses, I got individual pouches of (good quality,100% natural) sports high energy gels which they could knock back quickly.

Plus a packet each of posh aromatherapy soothing soak to invigorate their poor feet and lower legs after a LONG shift.

Along with a card each, mentioning how their exceptional care had helped me through such a difficult, painful time. Especially as they'd been several staff down.

I emailed the unit head to describe in more detail what they'd all done for me.

Nurses are bloody wonderful, and thank you to any reading this for all you do... 😊
