I'm going through some painful times and I feel sad and deflated and in need of books that will lift me up when I need it. I enjoy Rosamunde Pilcher, Mary Wesley, Maeve Binchy so I'm hoping there are some similar authors that I haven't discovered yet. Please give me your best recommendations! Thank you.

Elizabeth Jane Howard books are nice reads, especially the Cazalet saga. I’ve been going back to Miss Read for the ultimate cosy feel-good read at stressful times.

Anne Tyler’s novels are also very engrossing and have a nice realistic family saga feel to them.

Thanks so much. There are a couple of Anne Tyler books that look great and are only 99p on Kindle. I read the one where the mum walks off the beach and doesn't come back and loved it, so I'm really looking forward to more of hers.

Lissa Evans's Crooked Heart trilogy are easy but lovely reads.
Mrs Benson's Beetle is a bit daft but I got sucked in.

Thanks so much. I'm making a list and have downloaded a few. Just having them sitting ready for me on my kindle is making me feel calmer.

Summer at the Comfort Food Cafe by Debbie Johnson is a nice read. There are a couple of others in the series that are also uplifting reads.

I love Victoria Clayton books. Moonshine is my favourite but Past Mischief, Running Wild, Clouds Among The Stars and Out of Love are all goodies. If you like stories with old houses, eccentric characters, good food and acerbic wit I think you'd enjoy them.

I enjoy reading The Twelve Days of Christmas by Trisha Ashley and Winter Solstice by Rosamund Pilcher around Christmas time.

Lucinda Riley and Santa Montefiore are nice reassuring comfort reading.

I recommend Beth Morrey.
She has two books out and both are fab.
Uplifting funny touching. Great stories

Any book by Nora Roberts, my all time favourite and feel good go to. You can also try a new writer, Yviebeth Bardug. If all tis fails, something different like ilona andrews
