Looking for ideas...

I need to put together some thank you teacher gifts for DSC for tomorrow with limited funds and time! Both are moving up to new schools (juniors and secondary).

I've got bottles of Prosecco and I can easily make cards..

Any other ideas?

The trouble with wine is do you go red or white What if they don’t drink or don’t like wine. I also feel a bit strange rocking up to school with a case of wine 🤭

I asked Re the wine and she said oh yes red please!

Mini prosecco, chocolate heart and a cactus. Card written by DS so bare minimum words with a small note off me. There's four staff so can't go overboard

Any head teacher worth his or her salt would ban every kind of thank you teacher gift or card. No, teachers are not more important than everyone else. Go around and give thank you Prosecco to the shelf-stackers and the lavatory cleaners and the workers on 12 hour shifts standing and putting four pieces of ham on countless pizzas which pass under their noses every boring hour.

What have they done to help my disabled child's life easier? What have they done to make him feel like school IS a safe place he can enjoy? What have they done to nurture his personal skills to help him make friends? How many kind words have they said to me when I've been struggling?

Its perfectly acceptable to thank someone for doing something important for you. Wine for the 121, chocolates for the nurses doesn't mean other people are worthless shit. It means they did something I really appreciate. Like people tip in a restaurant or buy the bin men chocolates at Xmas.

Oh and I shoved £20 in the 121s birthday card.

Did point out no one would care when she was 22 tho so to enjoy it 😂😂

My husband is a primary teacher and has been for 14 years. He has had some lovely personalised gifts over the years and handmade items . He has also had MANY thank you teacher mugs, pens, beer glasses, key rings etc etc from Home Bargains, Asda etc. We had a set of 19 matching teacher mugs at one point! On average 5 mugs a year times 14 years thats 70 mugs!! He now either has to take them into school for the staff room or they go to the charity shop unopened . Same with chocs , only so many boxes or roses, Maltese’s and Heros you can eat. I end up taking loads into my office for my colleagues or he gives them away to family/friends . I know some of that may sound ungrateful but the joint gifts are much better. He has had the latest Football shirt of the team he supports, an experience voucher and meal voucher but really appreciates the gifts/pictures the children have made.

My mum taught for 25 or so years. When they moved house after retirement my dad found over 800 “best teacher” mugs that had been stashed there that mum didn’t feel she could give away.

She once asked dad to grab a bottle of Baileys from under the piano (where end of year edibles got stashed). The recipient commented that Baileys had gone back to retro packaging - nope, it was at least 15 years old (and solid). 😬

I just get a £5/6 candle and a card. It's just a gesture. No need to spend loads.
