It's a building that has great significance to the older residents, but for the last couple of decades has been run as various restaurant and entertainment businesses. Always seemed to struggle, changed hands many times.
It went out of business during covid and they tried to get planning permission for flats on the site. Declined. New owners took over about 9 months ago. Lots of stories of poor service and dodgy financial dealings, unpaid tradesmen etc.
The restaurant is closed on Wednesdays and as of this evening the building is no more.
It seems like such an obvious insurance job, surely it won't be paid out easily? What sort of investigation will be done?
I'm not saying it is dodgy, but there must surely be an element of suspicion. What will the insurance company need to prove/disprove in order to settle the claim, or not?
