Can't John Lewis form our next government?

They are:

  • good quality

  • friendly, polite, respectful

  • helpful

  • reliable

I had a chair delivered last week - the guys couldn't have been nicer. Put it all together for me. Nothing was too much trouble. In STARK contrast to Oak Furniture Land who treated me like a gross inconvenience a few days later.

And then last night, I mistakenly ordered the wrong item and even though it's from a 3rd party supplier, within just a few hours, JL emailed to say no worries, all sorted, refund on way.

I mean they just never give me a bad product or a bad service. They make life just a wee bit easier.

So vote John Lewis!

And no, I am not paid by them!

Do you know who else is good? The Scottish Building Society. The closest you can get to old-fashioned, local banking. You phone up and speak to either Margaret or Jean who asks you how the kids are.

This entirely makes me want to open an account with them.

John Lewis and Partners. It all went downhill when they spent a fortune on a posh branding agency who told them that there was a significant and beneficial difference ‘and partners ‘ and the old ‘ partnership.’. Actually I guess there was, since the new look involved getting rid of most of the people who knew anything about retailing or customer service.

One of thei most senior executives held a similar position at Post Office Counters ( though that vanished from the website once the fraud scandal got going).

Given that they have also drunk the gender Koolaid , I suppose all that means they would be quite similar to most of the political parties, though not much good at government.

@snowgal do it! Tell Margaret and Joan that I was asking after them! I hope Joan's bunions are better, I know they play up in the heat.

There customers services is now awful, some of the worst I’ve experienced. They spent millions on that Elton John Lewis and then there was no money left for their partners (all staff) bonus. I don’t think they make great decisions. Plus their website automatically shows things which have been out of stock for eternity.

However nothing I wanted in their fashion department though

No they are awful. I have my own personal boycott of them due to how awful their customer service was to me. I never got any of your bullet points from them, it dragged on for months, they were unhelpful and really rude.

I've had this recently too, I was shocked how awful they were and this was after they sent me two broken versions of the same product!
