@Justonedayatatime11

thank you! Absolutely beautiful, but yes, if I saw your cat out & about, I'd think WTAF was that???

gogohmm · 20/07/2022 09:59

I'm with you op. I secured my garden for just a few pounds (already had a tall fence admittedly) and dcat hangs out there without any chance of escape or being stolen. She also has the balcony to stare at the seagulls from

It seems mean to me.
My cat would not tolerate a lead in a million years.
Why have "house cats" ?

As a cat owner you can't understand why people have house cats?

MercurialMonday · 20/07/2022 10:12

Due to layout of garden we cant secure entire garden but they have a catio and many indoor shelves - one room has entire walkway around top.

They also get regular walks in rest of the garden. Even in the UK indoors cats do tend to live longer as they avoid external threats like cars other animals.

Many cats die on the roads here - often not the ones people think most dangerous. I personally don't think it's better cat ownership to let a pet die in pain alone on a road - but I do think indoor cats are much more work.

Probably shows his size better.
He absolutely loves going out on his harness and lead, as do my others. If I didn't think they liked it I wouldn't do it

mbosnz · 20/07/2022 10:19

Because mine is daft as a half penny brush, with absolutely no outdoor sense, having come from generations of cats that have only ever known the indoors.

Because she is obviously pedigree and valuable, and people steal valuable dogs and cats. A lot. So this concern is not negligible.
Because she's of a breed easily lead trained and more than happy with it.
Because this way she gets to enjoy the outdoors, but to do it safely.
Because this way I know she's not fucking off neighbours and non-cat lovers by shitting in their garden.
Because this way I know she's not going to be hurt because she's fucked off neighbours and non-cat lovers by shitting in their garden.
Because this way I know she is not decimating wildlife.

mbosnz · 20/07/2022 10:23

Oh, and she's not going to be squished by a car (see under daft as a half penny brush, with no outdoor sense).

It's not mean. Anyone who has cats knows that they won't do what they don't want to do. If they will walk on a lead, they're obviously happy with it. You cannot make a cat do ANYTHING.

You can see how sightings of ‘wild leopards’ occur!

He’s amazing.

We adopted our cat at 3 years old and she was a housecat when we adopted her. Having had her for 5 years now I can see why. She is ridiculously stupid and would never survive the feral cats that roam the streets here nevermind have the common sense to dodge traffic. She is happy healthy and sits at the open door watching the world go by. She must know she is on the slow side because she has zero desire to go outside.

@Justonedayatatime11 he’s a beaut.
