Will air beds be hot and sweaty?

DC struggled to get to sleep last night, it was so hot. Considering getting the airbeds out and sleeping downstairs, as it was so much cooler last night. Just concerned they will be hot and sweaty and therefore defeat the object. They are the flocked sort if that makes a difference.

ooh yes, really sweaty!

Put a duvet over the air bed & under the sheet, we do this when camping & it's more comfortable & stops the mattress feeling sweaty

We have been sleeping on ours and finding them much better. Our bedroom was 30° at 11.30pm, we slept downstairs on the air bed with an empty duvet cover over ourselves and a fan going, and felt quite chilly this morning. DS has had one on his bedroom floor with a similar set up and was cool to the touch last night when we checked on him.

Slept on one with just a sheet in the garden last night as bedroom well over 30.

I might give it a go then, thanks. We have a room with a cold floor that might help!

Damp t-shirt can help too

I'm sleeping downstairs on an air bed this week as DH has Covid.
Sheet over the flocked side & not at all sweaty. In fact, I'm going to do this for every heat wave, it's a revelation.
(I won't be sharing this info with DH or DC incase they suggest a rota system.)

Ah the bungalow advantage, no sweaty muggy hot upstairs. Cotton sheet or duvet with cotton cover on top of the airbed should help. Put it in the garden and sleep outside if you can. Last year we'd a few very muggy hot nights and I slept in our caravan, was surprised to realise that due to where it was parked (under trees) it was being shaded completely and also getting the only bit of a breeze around so with windows and sky lights open it was actually cool in there, best sleep for a long time but also just sitting in it relaxes me.

Just to add we did put sheets onto the air beds, just as you would a normal mattress. I wouldn’t want to sleep on the plain mattress, flocked or otherwise - that would be minging. How would you get it clean if you sweated on it? But they were definitely
cooler than our proper beds.

Oh yes I will put sheets on, I just meant it's not like sleeping on the plastic side.

Outside was warmer than my downstairs til very late last night. The downstairs is very cool in this house.

Gotcha. Hope you stay cooler tonight!
