Just need to buy some small gifts for my childminders children. I don’t know much about them! They are girls aged 8 and 12.

can anyone think of a gift around £5-7 that would be fairly universally liked by kids around those ages?

Is there a bubble tea place near you? If so get them a voucher. Seems a big thing for preteens/teens where we are.

A fiver in a card would be fine.

DD 11 likes
Face packs
Bath bombs
So? Body sprays
Sweets - nerds, chupa chubs, maoam
(perhaps you could put together a little gift bag)

Niece 8 likes

Bath bombs
Hair ties
Notebooks and pens
Sweets- nerds, chupa chubs, maoam types.
(Again, a little gift bag may be nice)

Despite the age gap their tastes are very similar and they both love a goody bag.

Fancy notebook and gel pens.

Stationary.
Doesn't have to be expensive, but extra kudos with dd (11) and her friends if its quirky.
Theyre all obsessed with pens, notepads, even things like funky rubbers and sharpeners.
(Dd's favourite birthday present this year was a cat themed pencil case set)

Agree with bath bombs - bath bomb making kits are good - and stationery. DD is 9 and literally can’t get enough fluffy notebooks and glitter pencils! If in doubt, a voucher for Claire’s Accessories will always be greeted with great delight!

Mini squishmallows always go down well with my DD and friends (a newish soft toy craze) and I think they cost under a tenner.

Fancy notebook and pens here. My daughter is allergic to all bath bombs and bath /shower fancy stuff so would be of no use to her and re gifted to one of her friends

DD10 love anything cosmetic (hair pack, face pack, lip scrub, body spray, bath bombs), squishmallows, stationary.
Fave pressie so far from her recent party is a home tye dye kit (from the works) everything needed is included except the item you wish to tye dye.

LER83 · 19/07/2022 12:21

My dd is 10 and her and her friends love Squishmallows (or whatever they are called!), stationary (my dd has just purchased a ridiculously large cat pencil sharpener because everyone else has it 🙄), lipbalm, face packs, nail varnish, Bath bombs, milkshakes/bubble tea etc. My dd is also into Roblox so gift cards always go down well with her, as does money!

Cheerybigbottom · 19/07/2022 12:31

Tie dye kit (about £6-£8 on Amazon)
All kids love them

My ds is obsessed with doing white socks in all designs

ObviouslyNotNow · 19/07/2022 12:52

Bubble tea voucher for the nearest place will be a winner. Stationary also good but more individual so harder to get right. Bath stuff is a bit more hit and miss, IME.
