Is anyone else hungry ALL THE TIME in this weather?!

The general consensus seems to be that you lose your appetite in hot weather. I can’t stop eating! Maybe I’m eating too much salad, fruit and ice lollies and it’s not filling, but I’m sooo hungry!

Sometimes you can be drinking a lot but lose salts. So maybe your body is craving something salty to replenish the salts lost during the hot weather?

This is me - I crave salt. Currently working through a large bag of coop sea salt crisps that taste AMAZING in the heat.

I'm the same. Craving savoury things. Drinking constantly and practically weeing water. I'm also due in the next seven days and I'm always ravenous the week before.

I haven't stopped eating! and I don't think it's dehydration either as I've been drinking litres and litres of water/juice/fizz and having ice lollies too. For some reason I'm just ravenous.

Not just you, OP. I have been the same today too. Trying to do as others have suggested, by drinking instead of eating. Had ice lollies, teas, coffees, fresh orange, water with lemon slices etc.

I have the visit from the red fairy so probably putting my ravenous behaviour down to that. Just want to eat chocolate all day. Allowed myself one Freddo bar to get it out of my system 🤣

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 18/07/2022 19:52

It could ve your body trying to replace salt lost through sweating?

BluOcty · 18/07/2022 20:43

It can be tiredness too if you're not sleeping well. I'm currently pondering a third cornetto

Heatstrokeunsteady · 18/07/2022 21:15

No can’t eat

That’s a very good point as my sleep has been atrocious lately.

I’m ravenous in this heat. I think it’s to do with having no energy and feeling tired and lethargic. It feels like when I’m premenstrual, or how I felt when my kids were babies and I was always sleep deprived and starving hungry.

exhaustion = hungry for me.

Minfilia · 18/07/2022 21:19

Hell no!

I had a Turkey salad sandwich for lunch, then just forced some crackers down for dinner so I ate SOMETHING.

At least I had my vitamin pills I guess!! Just can’t face eating in this heat!!

HellyR · 18/07/2022 21:28

Yes! It's like when I have a cold or something - just want to eat chips or similar. Normally I'm pretty healthy.
I'll drink some more though.

OldTinHat · 18/07/2022 21:31

I haven't eaten anything for three days apart from a yogurt each morning, drinking several litres of water but, jeez, have I been starving today! I ended up ordering a take away as my groceries don't arrive until tomorrow and I had nothing I fancied in 😆

Agree it's probably thirst.
Every time you feel hungry, try drinking a glass of water and wait 10-15 mins to see how you feel.

Ive totally lost my appetite and Im a fatty so thats saying something

I don't think I've actually been without a drink for a whole 15 minutes at any time while awake, so definitely not the case for me! Peeing loads and it's very pale.

I don't usually have a huge appetite, so maybe something about the heat just changes your normal patterns? Having said that, it's not like I've been counting my calories here, so it might be that I usually eat more rarely but larger amounts of energy at once, and now I'm just eating lighter foods in smaller amounts, but constantly, so it just feels as if I'm eating more? I think we've had salad for dinner for 5-6 days now... Oh well.

Whiskers4 · 19/07/2022 07:54

I've never lost my appetite during hot weather and was hungry when I went to bed last night which I'd unusual. I had cheese and crisps yesterday, as well as bread and cereal so had salt. Also drank around 5/5.5 pints liquid.
