Barcelona Weekend Tips Please

My friend and I are visiting Barcelona in August, and I am looking for local knowledge and tips.

We are away for the first time in our life long friendship, we both have very busy, sometimes traumatically stressful lives, so this trip is a rarity and I don't know when it will happen again, so keep to get this right.

Firstly, we are staying in an apartment right by the Sangria Familida, and my friend is coeliac so if anyone knows any restaurants that cater for coeliacs, then that would be helpful.

Also, is the public transport okay. We are flying into the main airport, and maps show that we may have to get a tram then tube to our apartment? Any tips on this, or are taxis reasonable? I think it's about 18 kilometres.

Finally, as we want a relaxing, but memorable time where just for a few days we aren't worrying about our real lives, what would you suggest we see and do?

Thanks in advance 👍😁

I had underestimate the cost of food, mainly cos it turns out my family didn't like tapas so we ended up eating in the Italian restaurants rather than the little tapas bars. Just like here though food is costing more. I had planned ahead for all the attraction costs etc but the cost of food caught me out a bit.

Don't order the big glasses of sangria on Las Ramblas (or probably anything else Smile) anywhere there is no prices on the menu).

The 20 euro we had wasn't enough for two glasses and one of us had to run to a nearby cash machine so we could pay the bill (this was years ago when the little bars were usually cash only).

Thanks.

Did you find eating out expensive? I realise that’s relative.

If you eat in little tapas bars away from the main attractions, it's probably quite good value.

See my previous post about what happens if you go somewhere around the main tourist hotspots (fuck knows how much it would have been to eat there).
