Toddler 5H (extra wide) summer sandals

Hi all, I have spent days on Google trying and failing to find H width (extra wide) sandals in a size 5 for my toddler. Does anyone have any recommendations? Ideally I want Velcro rather than buckles but will take anything I can get at this point! Thanks so much in advance for any help anyone can provide!!

Try the website Happy Little Soles. They sell a lot of different brands and are great at giving advice too. All returns are free if they don't fit. They've come up trumps every year for my son who was basically circles as feet.

Bobux sandals are good for wide feet

Have you been to a shop and tried any on? I have the opposite problem due to a toddler with really narrow feet, I had a chat with the lady in the shoe shop and she told me that generally sandals don't come in different widths because the straps make them super adjustable - we ended up going down half a size but she spent quite a bit of time with us looking at different styles and working to get ones that fitted dd really well. If you can't get to a shop them maybe take a punt on going up half a size, knowing that the straps can be really accommodating..

Do you have a specialist children's shoe shop anywhere near? They often have options and brands you've never even heard of. I have a DC with difficult feet (same size as your DS's, or even wider!) and he ended up with some German made shoes that are so wide and flexible that it doesn't matter that they don't come in different widths. Much better than Start Rite widest fit etc. I was shocked! Though they are so expensive I admit I skipped the sandals this year... 😬

I had to order in from Clarks. We have an outlet shop not too far away so i could get some from there sometimes. You pay in advance and get a refund if they don't fit when you pick them up from the store.

Thank you all so much!

@Isaidno22 - neither Clarke's nor StartRite, my usual website options, have sandals in that size sadly

@BigBunkers and @DueyCheatemAndHow - thanks for the recommendations, I'll have a look! I had had a look at bobux but all the styles I looked at said they were standard width. I'll email their customer services team and ask.

@Findahouse21 and @QuintessentialHedgehog - I've been to Clarke's a couple of times for measuring and to buy shoes and both times had to leave empty handed as they didn't have any shoes in the shop that were short and wide enough! So I'd not even considered visiting a physical shop this time, but I'll have a look online. I'm in the south east so there must be a specialist shop somewhere accessible!

Next has quite a lot in a G width including some with Velcro fastening (so could fit wider). We’ve had these two summers in a row: Sandals

This trekker style looks good too: Trekkers

Bobux are wide. Let those toes splay out!

My son also has H++ width square feet. We did have success with some of the Clarks ones if they had them in stock, and even got away with G width for sandals on occasion. Didn’t work for all styles but for the more squared off ones where you could also adjust the heel it was ok - astonishingly, cos he really does have extremely wide H fit feet.

If Clarks are all out, look for somewhere selling Geox. They don’t have width fittings per se, but the different soles they use have different widths and their sandals were great for us. But you have to go and try them on. For instance, we had these ones a couple of times I think, and while it doesn’t mention size, they did work (but these are only in older children sizes) www.charlesclinkard.co.uk/kids-c120/boys-c121/sandals-c137/junior-maratea-boys-sandals-p40850/s568098?cid=GBP&glCurrency=GBP&glCountry=GB&gclid=CjwKCAjw5s6WBhA4EiwACGncZc0uLQ-7nP2cmIZsRrD5iio4bL-Pcoa0wvic8KLOA_Kf2UTqvCiGfBoCyuEQAvD_BwE

Next do them in size h. I think it’s under extra wide h. I have to get a g for my daughter from there.

pinknsparkly · 17/07/2022 23:15

Thanks for the suggestions of Next, I'll check out their website. And thanks for confirmation that bobux are actually wide. I'd seen them mentioned elsewhere as being wide fitting but then their website seemed to say they were all normal width!!

I've made an appointment with a specialist children's shoe shop (and am a bit embarrassed that hadn't occurred to me already!) so will see what they suggest and try the various website recommendations otherwise.

Thanks so so much wise mumsnetters. I should have posted days ago rather than going round in circles!!
