Seagulls..... Hear me out

So I live rurally but close to the coast (20 miles inland). Never seen seagulls here, its all woodpeckers, bluetits, Jay's etc we also don't get pigeons.... But get doves.

So now there are loads of gulls, theory is they can preempt a storm. I'm guessing this can also mean a change in the pressure system I. E the impending heatwave??

That's strange because for the last couple of months we have had a lot of Jackdaws around the area, absolutely loads of them, they were everywhere. Really noisy too.
Yesterday we came back from a weeks holiday and literally haven't seen one!!!!
Maybe they've all gone on holiday x 😆

Seagulls are being very noisy here (Edinburgh) at the moment. I thought it was due to juveniles flying in greater numbers for the first time (given that mating and nesting was a few weeks/months ago). Juveniles of all birds tend to be gobbier than full adults, I believe.

We are forecast a thunderstorm on Wednesday but I don’t know if it’s anything to do with that.

it's the time of the year where seagulls throw out their young from their nests.

but yes, seagulls travel inland if there is a storm brewing (or they have a food source, like landfill).

I lift 40 miles outside London and a very long way from the sea yet we are plagued with them. Sometimes they form a murmuration late at night and the noise is unreal. They also gang up on the Red Kites to chase them away. I've always thought it was odd but it's been like it for a long time.
