Photo of my pallid, stubbly leg for your delectation - would you be concerned about these bites?

I always react badly to bites. I get skeeter syndrome and feel rotten if I get more than a couple. I’m used to them swelling up and the wretched, infernal itching that can last for weeks. These ones are different though, they’re really dark and my whole lower leg is puffy. Should I be worried?

Maybe not yet. Have you take. Antihistamines and try a cooling balm like witch hazel or calamine. I'm allergic and I have a bite on my arm that's red and itchy. It's coming to a head now and will start weeping soon. As long as I don't scratch it should be ok.

However if the skin around it gets extremely painful and red too then I'd contact a gp.

I am. I get bad reactions to bites as well @Greensleeves

have a look at the dd horsefly bite thread further up. Some good advice there that I'd not come across before!

I’ve had them like this. I remember lifting my trouser leg to show a pharmacist in a chemist and a passing customer gasped!

They went down eventually. They look awful but we’re normal within the context.
