Any dentists or hygienist on this morning?

Good morning, I would be grateful for some advice from any dentists or hygienist around. My 14yo daughter started complaining of really sore gums around two days ago. She also has a sore throat and I think wisdom teeth trying to get through. So I don't know if it's all connected or if her dental hygiene has gone downhill rapidly😱.she said she scrubbed her two front teeth very vigorously over two days and it really looks like the gums have receded. I can see a build up but she says it's too sore to brush properly now.

Until we can get to the dentist or hygienist, what would be the best way to treat at home? I bought Corsolyl yesterday. Before that I'd got got her to use a 1:5 TCP mouthwash.

Anything else? Any good way to clean those two front teeth at the gums without causing more gum trauma?

Many thanks.

Dentist here, get her to use the Corsodyl on a cotton bud along the gum line on the sore teeth. Don't use the Corsodyl as a mouthwash as it causes staining much better applied to the affected area.

The most likely thing is she's been a bit slack with her cleaning and her gums are swollen and sore and then when you first start brushing they can get very inflammed. It's probably her second molars rather than wisdom teeth that are coming through.

Once the gum is more comfortable get her to brush it, using more pressure each day. Her brushing should be targeted at the gum firm but not scrubbing. If she hasn't got an electric tothbrush think about getting one.

There are some conditions that can give sore and ulcerated gums so if it's not settling down quickly call your Dentist to get them to see her.

You can get soft headed toothbrushes that might be a good stop gap until her gums heal a little. It sounds counterproductive to keep brushing when she’s in pain but it’s the only thing along with using the corsodyl topically that is going to help

Thank you so much to you both for replies. Great advice about Corsolyl. And I did but her an extra soft brush too.

Really appreciate your advice.
