What would you do with a weekend in London?

I live abroad and will be visiting my two best friends in London soon.

It is a rare child free weekend for me as my son is staying at home with his dad. I am pregnant and so is one of my two friends, but we are both very capable of walking around etc.

I worked in London for a few years but didn't get round to doing as much stuff as I would have liked as I commuted in and tended to be too tired at weekends. I haven't been there, even passing through, since before the pandemic.

What would you do in 48 hours with two female friends in London in the summer?

I need inspiration!

Spending kids free summer time in london with two friends will be heaven no matter what you do. I'd do some lovely lazy walks through the royal parks. Stops for picnic/snacks and alcohol-free fizz. Relax.

Greenwich is also a great stop because you can enjoy the market, cutty sark, river, maritime museum/old Royal Naval College buildings, Greenwich mean time line, Greenwich park with fantastic views of the city, all within a small area.

Wander round areas like Notting hill, Mayfair... little boutiques etc. Personally I would avoid tourist attractions but you could pick any of the museums and art galleries if you like. The Wallace collection is a good shout.

Well, as many art galleries & museums as I could pack in - particularly recommend the V&A, the Courtauld and the Summer Exhibition at the Royal Academy.

If you want time outside, a walk along the South Bank, maybe do the tour at Shakespeare's Globe.
For a small park, St James's is nice.

Lots of theatre - depending on what you like I would recommend Hamilton or Come From Away, but just look at the listings for what's on.

For shopping that's a bit different, go from Monmouth Street up to Seven Dials and ignore all the big stores.

There’s a Tiffany exhibition on at the Saatchi gallery until mid August. It’s free but you have to book a slot. Also, I’ve heard that the Inspiring Disney exhibition at the Wallace Collection is good.
Darwin Brasserie and OXO Tower Bar both have amazing views and a good selection of non-alcoholic cocktails

I’d get an all-day ticket for the Thames Clippers, and then get on and off where I fancied while enjoying a lovely comfortable seat and an interesting, changing view when I wanted a rest.

Yes to the Tiffany exhibition. I am going next week. Also Harrods does a Tiffany afternoon tea, you can walk from the gallery to Harrods - it’s about 20-30 min stroll.

I'd go to the Tower and Hampton Court (I know it's a trek)

We are just back from London and we did art galleries and shows as that's what we like. Previously the Uber boat to Greenwich was a great day out and a day in Kew Gardens was relaxing and beautiful.
