Does anyone know if you have to inform PIP or ESA about doing a course online? Thanks

You don't have to inform PIP of this kind of thing, no. I get this and have been doing an online course for months now.

No idea about ESA.

Thanks. I hate the feeling anything can be used against you and it can put you off trying things

You might need to inform them if you are on Esa,

I am on ESA and doing an OU degree I mentioned it at my last telephone check in and they didnt have a problem but my health stops me leaving the house it might depend on if it contradicts the reasons you get the benefits

Orangesandlemons77 · 16/07/2022 09:53

Yes that is what I wondered. My reason for being on ESA support group is about tasks...something about completing two or more tasks consistently?

I wonder if that would prevent me doing it as surely tasks are a part of all courses. I would be taking extra time over it though and as I understand it the criteria they use are something like in good time, consistently etc

But with an online course that would be the benefit as could do it in your own time.

Is it a full time course ?

No, just a 6 week level 2 course, but can be done flexibly so to take more time I think if needed

Ime that's fine I've done similar and not informed them I think its seen as beneficial for mental health,

Orangesandlemons77 · 16/07/2022 15:34

Thanks.

Does anyone know anything about permitted work? Wondering about doing this just a few hours per week but wondering if they would query that. I find the reassessments pretty stressful. (have got mental health conditions) I mean what jobs do not involve tasks? I guess it may depend on support and I suppose could explain this to the employer (it is my old job but very part time)

I do permitted (volunteering )work I.just phoned them up and enquired and I don't think I had to have reassessment but it was years ago when it was a different title benefit. Maybe incapacity but I think if you are in the ESA support group then you can do some permitted hours.

Ok, thanks for the reply. Think I may start with some volunteeering as well, perhaps
