How do I get sick out of a carpet?

Exactly that. DD has just thrown up all over my bedroom carpet.

What's the best way of cleaning it? Worried its going to stink to high heavens in this heat? What's the best way of getting the smell out?

Any advice would be great please! Thanks

Scrape it off with a spoon, so you don't rub it in.

After scraping off, absorb as much liquid as possible with a clean dry cloth. Then clean with detergent- preferably carpet cleaner/ carpet shampoo. Help it to dry quickly. Then sprinkle with bicarb, leave, vacuum and repeat as necessary to deodorise.

Hire a carpet cleaner from Rug Doctor. One if your local supermarkets should be able to supply one.

Bio washing powder. Work in enough water to make it into a paste and scrub the stain after you have scraped off as much sick as you can. The bio enzymes munch away at the sick smell. Works really well.

Thanks so much, I was in a real panic. Chunks are gone, soaked up as much as I could and im now scrubbing with vanish and dettol disinfectant. I'll use some bio as well.

I actually found my huge bag of bicarb earlier. It has to be dry when I put the bicarb on, yes?

I've dumped bicarb on wet cat sick, left it to dry and then hoovered it off. Worked really well!

Must be a week for stomach bugs

Dd was sick on Sunday, and ds was sick last night.

I have never seen so much vomit come out of someone so small.

We don’t have what has been suggested, so I used dettol and hot water. Seems to have worked

It should be fine either way, but if you put the bicarb on wet carpet, you need to wait for it all to dry before vacuuming.
