Reasonable budget for a festival (Wilderness)

Hi all,

I am off to Wilderness Festival from 4th - 7th July and this will be my first ever festival despite being the grand old age of 32! I am going with my friend and we bought tickets ages ago, well before the cost of living crisis. I am now getting anxious about the amount of money it will cost to just be at the festival - eat, drink etc. I am going to bring some snacky foods with me to cut down on costs but I imagine I will need to buy main meals, drinks (although I'm not a massive drinker) and possibly pay for face painting etc. I imagine that prices will be extortionate as it is a captive audience. Is anyone able to give me a reasonable but realistic idea of how much money I should expect to spend each day?

Thank you!

Beer/cider at the bar is likely to be around £6 a pint. Food in general seems to have increased a lot this years festivals and you can expect to pay about £10-12 for a meal. Sweet things like crepes/donuts etc would be at least £5-6. Merchandise tshirts about £25. Hoodies £40 ish. I'm not sure what face painting would be. I spent around £50 per day at Glasto a few weeks ago. That was for 2 or 3 meals a day plus drinks.

If you're trying to bring costs down certainly bring lots of snacks and breakfast for each day if you can. Bring as much alcohol as you want or can that'll really help keep the costs down.

Wilderness is pricey - think £15 for a fancy takeaway burger in terms of food and a tenner for a G&T. If you’re aiming to keep costs down I’d aim to bring your own breakfast foods and snacks and stick to one bought meal a day. With that, sticking to a couple of drinks and one activity you can keep it not much more than £50-£60 a day.

You can take your own alcohol, but there’s a limit and a no-glass rule. I think the limit is about 12 cans. If you want to buy drinks there, take a cup for your wine/coffee/beverage of choice. Many places will knock a little money off if you bring your own cup.
