Instant Pot - which model?

Thinking of getting an instant pot on amazon today while it is on offer.

Is the main difference between these 2 just the additional functions? Or anything else major?

Thanks!

One says 7 in 1, other is 10 in one so check what’s the difference maybe?

The 10-in-1 has the sous vide function (for cooking vacuum sealed steaks etc) but little else of use. If you're unlikely to use this function, the cheaper one is perfectly fine (I had it and it's fab!).

I have the cheaper one and don't use many functions. Just rice and manual. Lots of the functions seem to just be different timings which you can set with manual and I prefer doing that

I have the cheapest one (which was more than double that price when I bought it when they first came into UK). I use the yogurt function and mostly the manual one instead of messing about with the others. I have since bought 2 more which I keep at my son and MIL house as I honestly don't think I could go back to pan cooking and use it almost every day.

Thanks everyone.
@FrenchBoule Thank you for that 😆. Perhaps my OP wasn’t clear, I asked for any difference apart from the additional functions.

One thing I noticed is that the most basic one does not have handles to lift the inner pot out. So what do you use?

Yes I can’t see myself using it for anything other than stews, curries, soup.

The inner pot is easily removed and I use heat resistant gloves or a tea towel when I can't be bothered to get the gloves out of the drawer.
I use mine to cook whole chickens and gammon, steam potatoes and veg, make seitan for my vegan family member, boil eggs, make porridge in quantity etc etc. Youtube is a good place to find out other things to cook other than curries etc.

RayKray · 13/07/2022 20:16

If I wanted to get it out hot I'd use mits. But usually I serve direct from it and it only comes out when cold. It's never crossed my mind to be an issue

Neither. Ninja foodi are far superior

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 13/07/2022 20:30

Couldn't agree more, @30not13, my NF is far better than my mother's IP (which I infrequently enjoy pointing out)

Rosebud21 · 13/07/2022 20:31

@30not13 I'm interested, why?
