And every single time
it comes up with a lump on my arm

I only kept it on 10/15 mons today just while I walked home

yet a large lump has now come up at the site where she’s removed the blood

Usually as soon as mine stops bleeding I leave it. Do it initially but take it off as you leave take a little plaster if you can use them

No idea, I doubt it's connected to the cottonwool ball/micropore tape though. Take a picture on your phone and when you next go ask the nurse?

Hotinnit · 12/07/2022 11:05

Is it the tape?

It's usually a little blood vessel and pressure applied to the site stops this from happening usually, hope this helps Smile

It’s a bruise. Apply direct pressure to stop it bleeding. The cotton wool and tape is to apply pressure but maybe it’s not enough?

Especially if you’re on blood thinners meds.

Is there any reason I need to keep the cotton wool on after? Tbh I don’t think she’s got a good technique as the blood comes out all frothy !!

It’s about the size of two peas

That looks normal to me, I have bloods done regularly.

FavouriteMug · 12/07/2022 14:21

That looks fine, normal bruising after a blood test for many of us?

I thought the cotton wool was so that you can apply the right pressure, and to absorb any small amount of blood?

NeverDropYourMooncup · 12/07/2022 14:43

The bruising is why she's telling you to keep pressure on it at first.

I have lots of blood tests - if I'm on steroids, I am more likely to bruise even with the gentlest phlebotomist. Pressure helps to reduce it in my experience.
