Just interested to know as it’s our first time and it seems cheap.

3 nights/4 days
UK
State primary school
Activity centre with some external activities like high ropes
Food and travel included

Ours is £190 for 2 nights away at an activity centre. Apparently this cost "has been subsidised heavily" and the time of year they do it means it is cheaper (February).

HelloThereObiWan · 12/07/2022 09:53

£150 for one night! Up from £90 pre Covid. The activity centres are trying to make up for lost funds I think.

RudsyFarmer · 12/07/2022 09:54

For what you described it was just over £200. I know the week long trip was over £600.

Year 6 child £300 for 4 nights
Year 8 child £265 for 2 nights

Both PGL, both all inclusive, both in same month (!!) but different locations.

makingmiracles · 12/07/2022 09:59

2 nights £160

SisterAgatha · 12/07/2022 10:12

So ours was £200 year 6. It seems like there’s a lot of variables here, £600?! Jesus!!!!

I’m glad you thought the £600 odd price was fucking ridiculous!!! I seemed to be the only one clutching the walls as a slid down.

SisterAgatha · 12/07/2022 10:55

I could have a term time family break for about 1/6 of that!

That said, £200 does still seem cheap?

OP posts:
Madmog · 12/07/2022 10:59

Year 6 - recent one was £600. Usually only 2-3 don't go, it was more like ten this time.

Madmog · 12/07/2022 10:59

Forgot to say, four nights, lots of activities and food meant to be food.

Meadowbreeze · 12/07/2022 12:17

Ski trip to Italy, y9 child. Term time, 7 days. All inclusive including rental of skis, helmet, jacket and trousers. Apres activities daily and coach travel.
£640 state school.
Y6 residential trip in 2019 was £300 for 5 days. I hear it's closer to £500 this year.
I have no idea how some schools manage to do things so cheaply whilst others are so much.

InDubiousBattle · 12/07/2022 12:22

My year 3 ds had one night for £85. It was an hours coach ride away with tea, breakfast and lunch provided and the activity was walking and a treasure hunt type thing.

WillYouDoTheFandango · 12/07/2022 12:31

4 nights £295. Also heavily subsidised. Up £55 from pre COVID mostly due to coach cost I think.

WeAllHaveWings · 12/07/2022 12:32

It was 5 years ago, 4 nights, PGL - think it was around £280. Brilliant value for accommodation, food, transport, supervision and the number of daily activities they did.

FatAgainItsLettuceTime · 12/07/2022 12:33

In our school yr 3 1 night residential was £20 and they do one in yr5 for 3 nights which was £60 this year.

clipclop5 · 12/07/2022 13:59

~£600 for Y5 residential. Included 4 nights stay at activity centre, all transport, food + drink, safety gear hire (inc. hiking boots, helmets, life jackets, waterproofs), high ropes, wall climbing, kayaking, bouldering + day trips (orienteering around a lake, national trust sites, aquarium and beach)

mogtheexcellent · 12/07/2022 14:03

They are planning a 1 night residential for y4 next year. 2 days activities and accommodation at centre an hour away. £220.

The year 5 week is only £350.

Bagpuss2022 · 12/07/2022 14:06

Y6 last year weekend fri-sun all food activities coach etc £180

Pinklimey · 12/07/2022 14:12

Before lockdown, dd was due to go away for two nights approx. £60. Anyone tries to ask me for hundreds is going to get abig fat nope.

mindutopia · 12/07/2022 14:20

£120 for 2 nights/3 days. Activities, food and transport.

LadyDanburysHat · 12/07/2022 14:23

Ours is going to be £260 next year for 4 nights. It is a 2 hour coach trip though, so that accounts for some of the expense.

ImFuminHun · 12/07/2022 14:23

£300
for two nights.

Absolutely ridiculous

phra · 12/07/2022 14:23

Ballet. £450 for five days. We didn't opt for residential which would have cost around £700 I think.

OhNoNotThis · 12/07/2022 14:24

Exactly the length in your OP, year 6, £250.

TrogLaDyte · 12/07/2022 14:47

Primary, 5 days, 4 nights £80 but only because they had some funding/sponsor money from the one cancelled due to Covid.
DC2's overnighter was £40.
