Covid tests for France - antigen or PCR? A question

How do the antigen ones work? You collect them from the pharmacy, do them at home then get an email response within 30 mins - but how does the test result get to the lab to be emailed???

Can anyone recommend a provider? We're in Milton Keynes.

You dont get the antigen test from the pharmacy; You get them from the private provider. Often you upload a picture of your test result and they do the certificate after that.

I know people that have used randox and the tests got posted out to them

whoopsnomore · 11/07/2022 21:21

You don't need a test currently to enter France - is it a requirement you've heard of or a personal preference?

basilmint · 11/07/2022 21:21

You have to used an approved provider for travel. I used an antigen test from Simply test me which I saw recommended on here. You go on their website to order the test, then take it within the 48 hour window, upload photos and they send you a certificate. Mine came within 10 minutes of sending the photos. It was very easy and inexpensive.

You do if you are over 12 and not fully vaccinated.

BruceAndNosh · 11/07/2022 21:23

Is this for unvaccinated children?
Vaccinated adults don't need this do they?

A580Hojas · 11/07/2022 21:24

My 18 year old son did, last week. He has not had the 3 vaccines. Be careful what you advise.

If you are over 12 and are only partially vaccinated or unvaccinated then you need a negative test to travel there

ErinAoife · 11/07/2022 21:27

If you are fully vaccinated you don't need any test for France, only unvaccinated require negative pcr or antigen test for the moment. Covid is rampant in France so situation could change regarding requirement.

The kids do. One is not vaxxed, one is vaxxed but not boosted, and she was vaxxed over 9 months ago. Dh and I are vaxxed and boosted so we don't need tests, just an NHS Covid passport.

What age is the child with 2 vaccines as if they are under 18 they don't need a booster to count as fully vaccinated

Presumably nobody checked then (which is pretty common) because the rules for entry are that everyone over 12 must be double vaccinated. If you are 18 or over you must be triple vaccinated and the booster must have been within the last 9 months.

All the rules of entry are on the French Embassy website

We've just been to France and masks were required on the ferry (Brittany) due to the rising cases in Europe and we were also asked to wear them in some shops.
However I think the UK has more cases than anywhere else in Europe

Roystonv · 11/07/2022 21:40

Do they need a witnessed pcr/antigen? In which case I think you have to attend a centre with your passport We are paying £19.99 each and found places via Google for our area.

dementedpixie · 11/07/2022 21:42

France doesn't ask for it to be supervised

Toddlerteaplease · 11/07/2022 21:51

What are you supposed to go if the booster was just outside of the 9 months? I go next week and my booster was 14th October last year.

bloodyunicorns · 11/07/2022 22:10

@Toddlerteaplease, you need to get an antigen or a PCR test.

The booster doesn't have an expiry date so you just need your covid pass

No you don't need a test if you've had the booster

If you have received a booster, you are considered fully vaccinated for entry into France. There is currently no expiry date for booster jabs

Perfectlystill · 11/07/2022 22:20

We have the same issue with one child not vaccinated. I think I will get a Randox test shortly before departure

taybert · 11/07/2022 22:22

The 9 months thing is if you had your second dose over 9 months ago you need a booster, there’s no “expiry” on the 3rd jab as yet.

Toddlerteaplease · 11/07/2022 22:24

Phew! Thanks. My tour operator has said nothing about it. And friends who went last week were not checked.

Cherrysoup · 11/07/2022 22:24

So confused! I’ve told students they must be double vaccinated (trip was postponed and that was the advice then) but now I’m hearing if it was over 9 months ago (all of us) you need an antigen test. A friend’s son had his done at his chemist.

Dinoteeth · 11/07/2022 22:25

We were in France at Easter. We used Randox for our 11 year old. I think it was £85 to get the results within 3 hours or £60 for 12hours.
We were going to France but flying into Italy one of them wanted the test done within 24hrs of arriving (I can't remember which)
