Midwives / Ex-Midwives!

I'm a band 6 MW with 8+ years experience. Much like all of us I'm feeling burnt out, and I'm struggling both physically and mentally. Not sure I can face another (potentially) 35+ years of this, plus who knows how much worse it's going to get!

Our trust has recently started using agency MWs who earn almost triple our pay for the same shift. I never thought I'd like the idea of working somewhere new all the time but recently I've been thinking more about it.

Has anyone ever left working for a trust and worked solely for an agency?? Thinking of the flexibility aspect (have small DCs) and of course the pay would be better / I could work less hours for the same pay.

Failing that, has anyone left the NHS or at least midwifery completely?? What did you go on to do?? I can't afford a pay cut and obviously can't walk into a completely new role and expect similar pay.
I have applied for multiple band 7 roles recently and have lost out for all of them for various reasons so I'm starting to become disillusioned by it all. I don't want to be a shop floor midwife any more but I feel trapped.

If anyone could offer any advice I'd be extremely grateful!

Not a midwife but do work agency.

I work in the same places all the time, just see my patients and go. None of the extra rubbish, it's great.

If places like you, they want you back.

You might find it a refresh that staves off the burnout.
