And what's your most useful one?

And why?

I've come to the conclusion that I'm extremely boring as my most used apps are Amazon and Sainburys. But my favourite of the moment is BBC sounds ...

Favourite: Cookie Run Kingdom.
Most useful: Google Maps.

We go to a lot of a small gigs in unfamiliar cities. Maps is a lifesaver when you're looking for a random working man's club in the middle of a city you've visited twice.

Favourite: Libby

You can sign in to your London Library (I believe many other libraries use this app too) account on Libby and you'll be able to borrow and download ebooks, audiobooks, and online magazines straight to your phone/tablet (subject to availability of materials from your linked library of course).

Most useful: Whichever default reminders app you get with your phone

Duolingo - it's been helping me do something I wanted to do for years - learn another language - in my case Spanish (and more recently some Japanese).

BBC Sounds for all the great podcasts and radio - catching up on missed programs e.g. Comedy, and listening to live sport on R5.

OS Maps - I bought access to all the OS maps in the UK as I do a lot of exploring our walking with my dog when I'm traveling around in my campervan - £28 for the year - I've used it a lot for footpaths.. all kinds of reasons.

I use Telegram and Signal quite a lot (messaging apps) - Telegram now for following need from Ukraine - a lot of need channels allow to to subscribe to news streams on Telegram - I think it's a better way to consume news than browsing a website. You can also share big files easily like any photos you took at some gathering or social event.

Google maps & Google earth. I'm disabled & househunting, it is useful because I can look at if a house has steps outside, what the parking is like, take a look at the garden & discard unsuitable properties.

OS maps, useful when walking
Sky Go, iPlayer, Apple TV and other tv apps, use them a lot for downloaded stuff when we go off in our caravan.

Have to say I don't bother with Libby because I tend to take my e-reader everywhere. I use disney + a fair bit too.

Now off to install OS maps though

Google Keep for the elventy billion notes, picture reminders and voice notes that I make everyday. I go through a delete the ones I don't need anymore each week.

I use a lot of map apps and its a combination of OS, OpenMaps and Google Maps depending what it is I'm trying to do as they all are better at some things than the other.

ShineOnYouCrazyTony · 11/07/2022 21:10

Google maps, useful recently when I went on a work course in Manchester City centre.

Amazon music for my earbuds.

Calm app.

I use the sleep stories every night and the meditations have really helped too. I've used the sos meditation to help ease a panic attack.

I pay for the membership but it's worth every penny.

Favourite: Twitter. I spend way too much time on there. Probably not good for me actually.
Most useful: CityMapper. I don't have a driving licence and so I use this a lot, especially when going to unfamiliar parts of the country. Very good for finding the right bus in cities, because my sense of direction is appalling.

coolbottlesummer · 11/07/2022 21:22

Flight radar is a favourite. Just when a plane is overhead to know where it is going. We under a flight path which isn’t too busy and I’ve used the app quite a lot so I often know what’s above without checking.

GelatoQueen · 11/07/2022 21:42

I like the sound of CityMapper. I have an appalling sense of direction too

Komoot. It finds lots of nice walks wherever you happen to be.
We use it loads when we go camping & find trails that we'd never have found otherwise.
