Hot weather, sparking riots

This prolonged heat made me think of a comment I read on here about hot weather being a spark for riots.

Is it because people are more likely to have been out drinking in the sun? The weather is making me want to sit with a slushy and not move, never mind riot😳

But on a more serious note, strikes, cost of living, Covid is still marching on. There's a lot to be unhappy about. Not a scaremongering thread btw, I just find the social psychology of it intriguing. I lived in London during the 2011 riots and still remember being sent home from work despite being nowhere near any actual rioting!

There's something in it - people don't seem to riot unless it's hot.

But I don't think heat causes riots - there have been plenty of hot summers when there has been no rioting. There needs to be a flashpoint as well

That's very true about a flash point.

And with social media being so pervasive now, it doesn't take much for word to spread. Look at Tik Tok and it's be-suited teenagers.
