Have diagnosed myself with pleurisy, but don't know if being ridiculous

I come from a long line of complete hypochondriac, and in some sort of subliminal protest, refuse to let much get me down from a health POV and would only ever seek medical attention if I thought a situation was dire.

However, I do Google a lot (I do have an underlying condition that I try and ignore, but it does mean I'm slightly immuno-supressed), and, having developed some pain under my boob (so in my chest) when I breathe in, and also noticing that it's spread to my shoulder/neck on the affected side, it sounds like it might be pleurisy.

Other than the pain (which is manageable with paracetamol, if not annoying), I'm not short of breath or nauseous etc and this is day 5.

Should I be seeking further advice or just see how I get on? Have read it can be serious, but it doesn't feel too serious at the mo, iyswim?

I tested positive for Covid last Friday (soon day 9 now). Worst symptom, apart from tiredness, has been a pain in my shoulder blade, occasionally spreading into my boob. Thought it had gone, but it’s back today and I’m having to alternate paracetamol and ibuprofen to keep on top of it.

Think it is called myalgia and seems to be quite a common Covid symptom at the moment.

Ah, OK. Interesting! Haven't had Covid or a cold/chest infection recently (to my knowledge) so the randomness and longevity of the pain is throwing me a bit.

Myalgia can also be brought on by stress, which I deffo think is a presiding factor for me, so I'll give it a few more days and see how I feel.

Nobody's telling me to scuttle off to A&E so that's good!

I had pleurisy after covid and sounds much like you’re describing.

Best to get it checked.

Generally speaking it is extremely painful and produces and orange or pink phlegm from the surfaces friction rubbing together. I found they often presented.in a blue light condition. That said, chest pain is scary and also can be an early warning for a.lot of things. Don't be afraid to ask and render there is no cry wolf in medicine well there shouldn't be anyway. On a personal.nore, I am post pneumonia and to be honest, if I hadn't seen my scans and xrays would be convinced I had pleurisy it it's just my muscles complaining about the relentless coughing. Take care and don't be afraid to ask for an assessment and if the GP is rude and dismissive, please find another.
