Is it too late to save my jam?

Okay, so I what I’m really asking is, can I take it from the jars and boil it again? Made yesterday, way too runny, just slop really. Recipe was correct, made many times before, no idea what happened, think maybe I had it on too low a heat so although it did it hit 110 degrees and went above that, it wasn’t boiling vigorously. Anyway, can I decant it and try to thicken it up? Thanks!

What fruit is it? If it is strawberries it might be a lack of pectin that is causing the problem. If so you could add some and re boil.

@CaptainMyCaptain, it’s a tomato and chilli ‘jam’, probably more of a chutney but Lorraine Pascale named it! There’s tonnes of sugar in it, toms, chilli, balsamic, think that’s it. Never had an issue before. Maybe I’ll just try it anyway, what do u think?

If it's a chutney you should be able to re-boil and reduce it. My friend gave me a jar which was very runny so I tipped it out and re-boiled it until it was thick.

Put a cut up lemon or some granny apple cores into it to raise your pectin. Fish them out at the end.

It’s had another half hour back on the hob and now looks perfect. Thanks!
