Product shortages?

I never see anyone talking about this, so are food shortages just in my area?
There are things that I have found hard to get from any supermarket in the City I live.

Bigger bin bags have been unavailable anywhere for the last 2 months. I had to order them from Amazon in the end.
Tonic water is hit and miss, sometimes available, then weeks without any.
Fancy large desserts - there is way less choice than there used to be, even in Marks and Spencers. If we had people around for a meal I always used to buy ready-made dessert. Now there is so little choice apart from very cheap not so nice ones.

There are other products that are hard to get as well. And as I said it is not just in one supermarket, but any supermarket in my City. Are other people seeing shortages as well?

This isn’t shortage, it’s just less choice. Prices are shooting up, so it will be less worth while making luxury products (fancy deserts) or niche products (outsize bin bags). Dunno what’s going on with tonic - shortages of quinine maybe, there was one, or just the lorry driver shortgage.

Are you in a poorer area? it might be worth shopping online.

lots of reasons - covid, brexit, inflation etc

I shop online at Tesco and have not had any issues.

was in Asda today at 5pm lots of missing spaces where fruit and veg should be
also not as much choice eg on 2 types of tomato

@Luredbyapomegranate I am in a well-off area. People can afford decent ready-made desserts.
Of course there is enough food. But there are shortages in products that we have always been able to buy.
Is it going to go back to the seventies when we had very little choice?

Brexit. Gaps appeared from Jan 2021 onwards.

Own brand shreddies we’re missing from local supermarkets recently (I tried 2x Tesco and 1 x Morrison). However, could get online, and saw them in Scotland on a visit.
