Easy camping no cook meal

tasmaniandevilchaser · 07/07/2022 19:18

Hi, I need some easy camping meals for this weekend, just finalising my online delivery. I was going to do pasta but we'll be arriving late so want something quicker. I don't have time to cook tomorrow afternoon or tonight. Any ideas? Tia

Tinned Sausages and baked beans which you just heat and eat, serve with French bread or cold new potatoes.
Packets of savoury rice, served with cooked cold chicken or hard boiled eggs.
Pizza that you have precooked and just eat cold with mug of tea or beer, delish.

Buy a box of cooked cocktail sausages, a couple of packets of Idahoan cheesy packet mash (it is bloomin gorgeous), and some beans. Heat the sausages up in the beans, boil the kettle for the mash and you are done.

I take fresh pasta camping, it cooks in minutes.

Jacket potatoes wrapped in foil chucked on campfire ( you can precook them at home) with cheese/coleslaw/whatever.

Fresh pasta and a tub of pasta sauce

Barbecue for another evening.

Dont forget to order marshmallows

billywilliamthefourth · 07/07/2022 19:36

Hotdogs? If you don't fancy the dodgy meat ones, the vegan ones are nice and will probably convince meat eaters. Add dried onion, cheese, guacamole/ avocado etc

Lovely ideas, thanks! I've actually got some Idahoan mash but there was a mutiny last time I cooked it ...! Heavy complaining about the texture, maybe I did it wrong. ...I think fresh pasta is the best option for tomorrow

Tin of stewed steak, tin peas & carrots, tin potatoes. Mix together and heat.

Wilma55 · 07/07/2022 19:40

Idaho spuds are a step up from Smash!

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 07/07/2022 19:43

If you fancy s'mores, toast marshmallows over the fire and sandwich between chocolate digestives. That's a meal, right?

NKffff · 07/07/2022 19:45

@LadyMonicaBaddingham ha ha! S'mores are definitely a meal, love 'em!

mackthepony · 07/07/2022 19:46

Tinned chilli, pre shredded cheese, tortillas. Pack of choc biscuits for pud.

Idahoan mash is genuinely really tasty, I was so surprised when I tried it. Did you measure the water precisely? I think that would be essential. That and putting the mash on the water then stirring it in so it rehydrates evenly.

Order in a pizza?

DeanStockwelll · 07/07/2022 19:56

Pot noodle ,
Pasta mug shots to get them to 'cook' properly empty packet into cup and half a cup a of very hot water , stir well then leave to stand near the heat source or wrapped in a towel / jumper to keep warm for about two mins then top up with more hot water and stir if you dont do this the pasta tends to stay rock hard .
Add finely sliced peperami to both for more taste

Make cheese and pickle / branston sandwiches wrap well in foil then stick them on a bbq or hold very carefully ( using tongs of course ) over your gas burner .

Pasta salad pots , mixed salad leaves and good bread

Tinned fish salad and bread

Hot dogs ( take the lid of the tin and you and warm them in their tin & Brine)

Cooked cocktail sausages threaded onto a bamboo stick ( soak the stick 1st to stop it burning )

All of the above can be cooked without the use of pans so no washing up if you use paper plates

ohmygash · 07/07/2022 19:57

Cous cous (you can get ones with dried veg and herbs in the pack) with a stock cube. Ready in 5 mins and no stirring etc

TheDoveFromAboveCooCoo · 07/07/2022 19:59

If you are arriving late and don't have time to cook I would just get some pre prepared picnic bits. Tesco and Asda have some really good stuff in at the moment (the empanadas are lovely!)

DeanStockwelll · 07/07/2022 19:59

ooh I forgot Stagg chilli in a tin , the food of gods when you are camping and cold , as with the hot dogs it can be warmed in the tin but you have to stir it often or the bottom will burn before the top is warm

Boriswentcamping · 07/07/2022 21:38

Marks and Spencer's do quite nice tinned food which we sometimes take camping. Bolognaise, curries, stews etc. we use the ready cooked packets of rice which can be heated on a stove with a splash of water..

Pasta with a tin of sardine fillets, raisins and pine nuts with a squeeze of lemon is another good store cupboard meal, use the oil from the tin to fry the sardines in....

Wilma55 · 07/07/2022 21:45

Cheats curry
Can ratatouille
Can chickpeas
Jar curry sauce (I use dhansak)

ruralwanderer · 07/07/2022 21:51

Pizza or quiche (pre-cooked at home and served cold) with salad, boiled eggs and chicken drumsticks. Quick, easy and delicious 👍

bravotango · 07/07/2022 21:51

For our first night we always make a pot of chilli or curry and bung it in the car so when we arrive we just need to heat it up

bravotango · 07/07/2022 21:52

Just seen no time to cook...jacket pots on fire with baked beans

Ollybob · 07/07/2022 21:54

Some of the pasta tortellini packs from the fresh Isle, cook in a couple of minutes.

Corned beef, beans and mash

Brunch potatoes in a pack, usually with bacon/ham or onion

Omelette

Takeaway or picnic nibbles for first night.

Have a great time, currently replying from my tent lol

equuscaballus · 07/07/2022 22:38

I second M&S tinned curry etc
Aldi do packet rice that you add a splash of water to and cook for 2 mins.

tararabumdeay · 07/07/2022 22:51

Paper plates.
