Does anyone wear false eyelashes?

If so can you school me because I've only worn them about twice in my life when I was at uni and put them on drunk. I'm in a play that's on for six nights (three one week, three the next) and I need some lashes.

I have some questions!

  • is full sets or the little individual clumps better? Do the latter take years to put on? I need to be able to put them on myself as everyone will be busy.
  • any advice on colour/shape/density? They can look quite dramatic as I'll be quite a way away from the audience.
  • is there more than one type of adhesive?
  • do I need any tools to apply them?
  • how many pairs would I need for the full run do you think?

Thanks Grin

I'm rubbish with the stick on ones, so wear the magnetic sort from Lolas Lashes. You put the eyeliner on, wait for it to dry, then they just click on but they can be taken off and repositioned as well.

Honestly for the efforts of putting them on and off for that period of time when you find them hard to apply (I've never been any good at it)... Would you consider getting lash extensions instead? Obviously quite a bit more costly overall but with nooooone of the hassle and you get to have big lashes all day!

  1. Full set. The individuals are fiddly and too subtle for stage I’d think.
  2. No advice there sorry just keep your character and wardrobe in mind
  3. Yes there is but I find the adhesive that comes with the lashes absolutely fine
  4. You can get a tool to place them but tweezers and your fingers work well enough
  5. I’d say two packs. One for the first three night run and one for the second.
My two best tips are to apply the glue to the lash and leave it a full minute to get tacky before you place it and treat yourself to a Kinder egg cause the wee plastic container is an excellent (or eggcelent) transportation device for them.

This 🙌🏼
I wear mine every day! Spend £20/25 every few months on them. And they have so many styles.

I wear them often.

I dont semi permanent as as soon as I feel them growing out I try and pick them off my own eyelashes and I end up with no eyelashes as they come out when I pull the semi permanent ones off.

I haven't the patience to go for regular infills.

I use either

Eyelure and put the glue on myself and apply them with tweezers. You have to pinch them on to your eye to get them to look good. Leave the glue at least 1 min before you apply or they won't stick and you will be ducking about with them until the glue is tacky enough.

Or

Eyelure pre glued. Perfect but I can never get them here they are always out of stock.

Also home and bargain Do a two pack of nice ones that are just nice, more natural looking. I think they are £1.29 or thereabouts.

I'd buy these and practice.

You have to let the glue go tacky.

I'd also buy a big glue of Eyelure glue from Superdrug.

Magnetic lashes are a no go for me as I don't wear eyeliner

limitededitionbarbie · 07/07/2022 20:03

If you take them off carefully and pick the glue off you can get about three goes on them. You have to be careful getting the glue off or they go out of shape

limitededitionbarbie · 07/07/2022 20:04

For your play though maybe get sone semi permanent to save you the messing round every night and try not to pick them off after two weeks when the re growth starts

Kinder egg case! Thank you that's such a good idea

Are there any magnetic ones with clear glue?

HangingOver · 07/07/2022 23:28

I cannot believe the magnetic ones actually work?? This is amazing. Is the magnetic liner stuff hard to remove?

I use full ones and cut about 4mm off the Inter corner. Coat with glue and wait until it's a bit tacky (can put some on your hand and press to check when this happens).

I put mascara on first as it makes my lashes form a shelf that's easier to rest them on and then press in.

Fawnia · 07/07/2022 23:39

I found eyelure pre glued lashes my entry into wearing them more.

Lolas lashes are GREAT, but be careful with the magnetic eyeliner. A dried up flake of the eyeliner got into my eye and I cannot tell you how awful the pain was and how hard it was to get out. I have a friend who had an awful allergic reaction to it too. I love them but I rarely wear them now. They’re also fiddly to clean. i eventually watched Robert Welsh on Facebook on how to apply lashes and I’ve nailed it ever since. I prefer thicker lashes with thicker ribs, they last longer.

Full sets are miles better

Doll beauty or Tatti lashes are the best brands - the tatti lash Abby Roberts glue is brilliant, as is their application tool, so I’d recommend those. The glue is totally clear, so doesn’t matter if you fuck up. Having said that, you can bulk buy peaches and cream so that might work out cheaper for you.

remember you’ll need to trim them to your eye shape, ideally do that in advance and trim from both ends.

aim for having a pair a week - you’ll probably fuck your first ones up relatively quickly

Sqeebling · 08/07/2022 00:03

My DD has been an expert at applying them for a few years now and the Primark ones are nice and cheap and you can apply any lashes a good few times.

Duo lash glue is the best

Cut them to size

Apply glue to lid and lash leave a few moments so it gets tacky and apply with tweezers or a special metal lash thingy

I've never worn lashes in my life and keep meaning to try

Sqeebling · 08/07/2022 00:05

To remove them to use again apply Nivea double effect or micellar water to a cotton pad and just hold over your eyelid till it sorts melts the lash off

I do this to remove mascara so I'm not rubbing like crazy.

Sqeebling · 08/07/2022 00:07

Full set is easier to apply than individual ones According to DD
