Anyone got any good toy storage ideas?

So I'm trying to declutter as much as possible before I buy any more actual storage (which I'd like to avoid doing), as I know that's the best thing to do. But, the reality is, I've got 3 DC and lots of toys in the house 🤷🏼‍♀️

I seen a thing on Pinterest that recommended buying fabric zip bags, cutting the front of the jigsaw box off to keep the picture and putting all the jigsaw pieces along with it in the bag. So you've still got the toy but not in a bigger box than necessary.

This is the kind of thing I'm after, if anyone has had any other ideas? Some of the stuff is just so bloody bulky!

Unless you are planning to keep a jigsaw for life it's better to keep the box because then it can be passed on/sold/charity shopped etc. Same with board games.
On the other hand if they have Lego and you want to keep sets together zip up see-thru bags are fine for storage (complete with the instruction book) and many are sold on the secondhand Lego market that way.

@Needmorelego I'd be happy to pass jigsaws/board games on to family/friends kids in a zip bag if it means I don't have to look at a mountain of boxes of them for the next 3 years Grin

Not really what you're asking for, but toy rotation!! If you have a garage, a shed that can be converted, an easily accessible attic, large built in storage somewhere in the house etc, take at least 50% of the toys and games and store them right away in stackable plastic storage boxes. You can swap things out every week or so, it keep things fresh and interesting, the kids rooms and living areas don't turn into a swamp of toys and in emergencies, such as you or the kids being ill, you can whip out something that's been semi forgotten about and you have a great distraction.

Defo recommend toy rotation too.

Sort toys and games into big plastic storage boxes. Take out two boxes per week. Rotate.

This is what I’d do. I’ve also got shelves in the sitting room with open top boxes for smaller toys and they’ve got hammocks in their rooms for soft toys.

Toy rotation could be do-able!
Thanks for the tip Grin
