Is there such a thing as a cheap short break?

I'd love to take my 2 DC away, possibly with my mum. Very limited funds. Any suggestions? We have camping gear but DM is old and while she says she's up fir it I'm not convinced she'd enjoy it!

Looking locally at caravan Holidays, £900 is way too much. Would be happy with 3 nights midweek. We're in Norfolk.

Come up to Sunderland op - there's a hotel right on the sea front for £105 a night for 2 adults and 2 kids mid week in July!

I stayed in a Travelodge in Central Edinburgh for £25 pn earlier this year, but it was at the end of February.
School holidays, probably no chance.

Make that £225 a night in the summer holidays!!
A premier inn room for 4 people can be a squeeze and you’d have to share the double bed with either your mum or one of the kids.
the parkdean site at Whitley Bay is reasonably priced (from £500 Monday - Friday in august), it’s 5 min walk from the beach, has a pool, the bar food wasn’t too bad (but get takeaway if you don’t want to eat surrounded by kids charging around everywhere), short drive to Northumberland attractions, bus or metro into Newcastle….

If you’re able to go on any of the dates here. Uk holidays in the sun for £9.50 start up this weekend. I’ve been on some lovely ones, Cornwall, Scotland. It’s for minimum of 4 so starts at £40

If you look at air bnb and don't mind which part of the country you go, you might get a last minute cancellation. Where do you fancy and when?

We have done Butlins for £400 before which i think is very cheap as it includes Breakfast and evening meal plus accomodation.
If you are looking now, for a summer holiday they will cost alot more.

Thanks all, I think we'll be going for the sun holiday. I dont mind where but will have to be summer holiday time due to DC.

I've done the Sun Holidays, I went to Craig Tara in Scotland twice.
It's great, especially the pool, and the evening entertainment is lots of fun.

I know, the prices shoot up in summer.
I can go at anytime as adult kids and I don't work.
February was chilly, but all the museums were pretty much empty, no queues for anything.
I had a great time, and will go back, but only in non popular times!

I'm in Durham next week.
£50 a night, but that's for a single room.
Pay on arrival and free cancellation up until a week before.
Bargain for this time of year.
I'm doing Whitby and Durham, possibly Newcastle too.
