I need to send a cheery message that doesn't sound sarcastic

I've had a bit of a falling out with a friend. We had plans, something came up, a genuinely important thing that meant they could no longer come, but they forgot to tell me.

We're both having a rough time atm with bereavements, family and work issues, they probably did just forget with everything going on. However, I wasn't happy, especially as I had turned down two other invitations for that weekend which I could have accepted if they'd told me as soon as they knew and frankly, I could do with some fun! The last message, was "hope you're OK", whch I didn't reply to because, no I'm not bloody OK!

Anyway, neither of us have the time or the energy for a proper sort it out chat. They go on holiday early hours of tomorrow. I'm still cross, but also accepting and wanted to wish them a nice holiday and leave things open so we can get back on track once back.

But everything I write seems to have a possible edge if read by someone looking for it!

Maybe just say something brief and breezy like ‘Hey, I know things are a bit weird just now but I wanted to send a wee message to wish you a good holiday and that I hope we can catch up when you get back’ kind of vibe?

‘Hey friend - realised you are off on holiday tomorrow, think that’s right? Hope you’re all packed and ready? Let me know when you’re back for a catch-up - have a lovely holiday.”
